Going to buy for MIL Xmas gift, she really likes this kind of cooking. I have always wanted one for myself but there are so many?
Is the latest one any good?
Should I just get the first one?
Thanks all

My favourite is Jerusalem. The first one has good salads and bakes, however it has meat as well. Plenty and Plenty More are vegetarian books and have very creative dishes for vegetarians or flexitarians. (We do sometimes pair the dishes with meat).

I think If you aren't sure they are very big on vegetarian books, then get either the first or Jerusalem. Otherwise the two Plenties are the best vegetarian books I own.

To make a nice Christmas gift, also get them a couple of the more unusual ingredients which are used a lot - sumac, za'atar, pomegranate molasses etc

You can get za'atar in oxfam! Big ottolenghi fan here. I have book 1 and plenty (plenty more is on my Xmas list). Book 1 is better if she's not veggie- the cake recipes are great too.

whois actually waitrose has own brand zaatar, sumac and pomegranate molasses. But I guess if your local branch stock them depends on where you live? I get them from ocado which stock orange blossom water even! I think it's all because of the ottolenghi effect.

Jerusalem gets my vote. Beautiful book to read and to cook from. I have plenty which is lovely, but I find Jerusalem more inspiring and well written.

I've got Plenty and love it but would also love Jerusalem - I think Jerusalem would make a great gift.

I have got Plenty and Ottolenghi. Plenty is veggie, but he does recommend some meat/fish ideas to go with them for those that are not vegetarian. Look for a deal online and get both! You can then swap and share :)
