It's dead easy squidgey, buy some dried yeast for instance I've got Allinson dried active yeast, then you just have to follow the instructions for making bread that are given on the packaging, add a couple of tablespoon olive oil, and hey presto you have your pizza dough. There's no need to let it rest, just roll it out. I do it quite often, it's really quick and easy and cheaper than those ready made pizza bases, plus you know exactly what's in it.

If you want a bit of help, then the Wright's Ciabatta Bread Mix is excellent, as all you have to do is add olive oil and water and knead it a few times (Tesco's sell it), other than that put 250g of flour into a bowl with 1 tsp sea salt and 1 tsp of bicarbonate of soda..Make a well in the centre and put in 3 tbs of olive oil and 150g of natural yoghurt. Mix together to from a dough...

Turn the dough on to a floured surface and knead lightly until it is smooth...Roll the dough into an 11 inch round...Put into a 10 inch greased pizza tin. Fold over the edges and prick all over with a fork...Ready now to add stuff to!

Yes, you can - & your son will eat the pizza whatever, if he chooses what to put on it!
2 ways - Wright's premium white bread mix & follow instructions (1/2 pack makes 2 smallish pizzas or 3/4 oz fresh yeast (free from most most supermarkets)11 fl oz luke warm water, 3tbsp oil, 1+1/2lb strong bread flour, 2tsp salt. Mix yeast with a bit of the water, then rest water + oil. Mix into flour + knead well. Put in bowl, cover with Ttowel + leave to rise in wrm place until double in size.Knead again, shape + top with stuff. Bake 200C + bask in glory!Good luck. PS my 1st time, hope messge OK

Or, even easier, by a packet of pizza base mix (cheating, I know) and make your own sauce to go on top!! My Italian grandmother would turn in her grave, but it does work very well

If I make a pizza base, or a couple, at what point could I freeze them - after baking, or not?

I make my own pizza dough, leave it to rise, then roll it out on to a greaseproof lined baking try. Freeze, and once frozen take it off the tray, wrap in cling film and return to freezer. When you remove to cook, take cling film off BEFORE defrosting otherwise it gets sticky and hard to get off!

Thank you! Would NEVER have thought of that.
