Yes, zucchini is USian for courgettes. In the States they use the Italian word, in Britain they use the French. HTH.

Zucchini isn't an Italian word. It's zucchine. Plural of the singular zucchina. Anyway it's the same vegetable.

unweavedrainbow Tue 29-Jul-14 17:37:34

I thought it was a corruption of the Italian? It looks like it is, judging by the word you posted.

Chocolate and Courgette Muffins sounds even better. grin

I made a courgette and chocolate cake once. It was predictably vile. If you're doing it to tackle a glut make them into soup instead!

stealthsquiggle Tue 29-Jul-14 18:16:12

I made chocolate courgette cake once and it was horrible. In retrospect I realise that the recipe omitted to mention that you needed to peel the courgettes and I was too thick to realise it blush

Nigella's courgette cake is pretty good.

StealthPolarBear Tue 29-Jul-14 18:20:40

I had no idea what a recipe needed when it mentioned capsicum once !

I only know this as I have Yankee relatives. Try a zucchini bread for an all-American taste of summer.
