Hello, I'm currently 39 weeks pregnant and plan to do some cooking for the freezer in preparation for the birth.

Other then spaghetti Bolognese, chilli and casserole I can't think of any other meals suitable for freezing.

Pleas can you give me some ideas?

Thank you Flowers

Chicken stew, shepards pie, sausage casserole, lasagna, mac & cheese, hearty soups. (I always roast 2 chickens at a time & carve & freeze the second one) I also cook rice & freeze in portion sizes for easy defrosting.

Congratulations by the way Flowers

Curries, lasagne, casseroles of all meats for variety.

When I freeze cottage/shepherds pie now I just freeze lots of the meat mixture in its correct portion to save space. It's easy to defrost it from plastic containers into the oven dish, and you just have to cook and mash the potato topping from scratch. You can get a lot more in your freezer that way, although we do eat a lot of cottage pies-a family favourite.

Freeze soups and sliced bread for toasting as well, for a quick and easy lunch.

Thank you :)

Yesterday I managed to do spaghetti Bolognese, beef casserole and a chilli. Never thought of doing soup and freezing it, i'll do soup and a curry tomorrow.

I did meatballs in tomato sauce, chilli, and bolognese. I knew we'd be sick of tomato sauce and beef so I also did fish pie and fishcakes, and a turkey bake (similar to cottage pie but with turkey dinner flavours). I also stocked up in shelf-stable gnocchi, polenta, pasta, and frozen veg, so we could make simple sides without necessarily going shopping. We didn't end up needing all of it in the first weeks because people were so generous when they visited but I'm glad we had it to fall back on.

Oh and definitely freeze bread and don't be afraid to do online shopping to keep your kitchen stocked up.

I always look on the cook website as they make homecooked food for freezing so great for inspiration
