Pork joint in slow cooker.

I was given a pork joint, would it be ok to cook in the slow cooker - I have no idea of the weight though as my scales don't go that high but would say it was average size?

If so, would I be safe to put it on all day on low? Or high?

Could I do pulled pork?

Any other tips gratefully received slow cooker novice. Thank you!

I do pulled pork all the time. I usually use a shoulder joint and pour a can of ginger beer over it.

Last time I had a big joint I put it on low at 11pm to cook overnight and then in the morning ( about 8am) drained all but a few tablespoons of the liquid , pulled the meat apart and added half a bottle of BBQ sauce. Then let it cook for another hour in the sauce before switching it off and reheating it at lunchtime.

Difficult if you don't know the weight though.

Make a dry rub first using brown sugar, garlic salt, oregano, snoked paprika and ground coriander, rub it well into the meat and in any cavities.

I normally cook for 6-8 hours.

Don't add any liquid, it makes it's own.
