would this work for gluten free baking powder?

I have some cream of tartar and on the pack it says to mix it with bicarbonate of soda to make a simple baking powder. I've checked on both packets and I can't see anything in them that has any wheat, the cream of tartar says it is made of potassium titrates and the bicarbonate is just that nothing else added. It's there something I'm missing or would this result in gluten free baking powder?

It would save me buying a whole tub which won't get finished.

not sure but waitrose own 'cooks ingredients' baking powder is gluten free. If you go to www.waitrose.com - under all their own products they list what the item is suitable for in terms of people avoiding various things in their diet including gluten.

Yup this is what I do- baking powder = 2 parts cream of tartar + 1 part bicarbonate of soda, I just replace however much baking powder in a recipes with those amounts of cream of tartar/bicarbonate
