I love this show! It's entertaining and I also enjoy watching real people make food. Been thinking about what I enjoy cooking and I make a lovely Massaman curry and last year I made a chocolate terrine which was gorgeous. Not so hot on starters tho, maybe something yummy with prawns.

Would love to know what you would make ( and any actual recipes would be great too..!)

Game of naked twister for entertainment?

MrsBennetsEldest Tue 21-Jan-14 17:34:36

Good call on the cheese pancakes, veggies won't feel left out and it saves faffing.
Yes,yes to the Blue Wicked. You could pop a straw in the wine glass so guests know you are really quite posh.grin

RobinSparkles Tue 21-Jan-14 17:31:17

Why, cheesy crispy pancakes of course! Or maybe I should do a selection so that people can choose? Some might prefer mince or the cheese and bacon ones.

Good idea re Dairylea and cream crackers.

And what about serving blue WKD for drinks? In a wine glass, naturally, so that people don't think I'm common! shock

MrsBennetsEldest Tue 21-Jan-14 17:22:20

Robin, you win.
What flavour crispy pancakes?
I think you should offer a cheese board for that extra winning touch though.

May I suggest dairylea triangles with Jacobs cream crackers. Oh and throw some cheese strings in there too.

RobinSparkles Tue 21-Jan-14 17:14:17

Starter: Heinz cream of tomato soup with a sprig of parsley to look sophisticated.

Main: findus crispy pancakes, potato waffles and beans.

Dessert: Aunt Bessie's apple pie with ambrosia custard.

I think that £1000 is mine!

Lightly grilled scallops with a soy/honey glaze, topped with caviar to start.
Wild mushroom risotto with arugula and spinach salad for main
Maybe a passion fruit cheesecake for dessert. Although, that may be too heavy after the risotto. Hmmmm.....

God knows what the entertainment would be! There is now an American version that I quite fancy applying to.

Can't decide between:

Mushrooms masquerading as escargots with garlic butter and crunchy French bread
Chicken veronique, creamed potatoes and petits pois
Pear tarte tatin with dark chocolate sauce

Prawn tikka, and sheek kebab bites with cucumber raita, naan bread strips
Chicken madras, mutter paneer and pilau rice, poppodoms and pickles
Rose-scented kulfi with toasted almonds and pistachios

HyvaPaiva Sun 19-Jan-14 18:54:57

Starter: Chanterelle mushrooms with a cheese mousse served on wafer-thin melba toast

Palate cleanser: Ginger beer with raspberry puree and a squeeze of lime juice served in a shot glass

Main: Fillet steak and scallops with a champagne butter sauce and chips

Dessert: Whisky and honey chocolate mousse with chocolate-chilli macaroons on the side.

eslteacher Sun 19-Jan-14 18:46:57

I think I'd do Indian, as it's my strongest area

Starter: Scallops cooked with ginger and cinnamon. Or mini kati rolls.
Main: A lamb korma and a chicken vindal, people can choose or mix and match.
Dessert: Hmm, I don't much like Indian desserts. Maybe individual banoffee pies, or else chocolate mousse.

Great recipes!

Never heard of lamb sharma but googled it and it looks yummy!

Gonna have a go at it next week...

This weekend I have made lamb casserole with rosemary and red wine with sour cream and mustard mash ( Is so easy and so delicious)
Then a risotto with 2 types of mushrooms ( inc dried porcini ones), peas, home made chicken stock, wine, and a new trick I saw Gino Di Campo do, add butter and Parmesan into the mix and stir it in at the end. Made it lovely and creamy!

Even worse would be a wedding video/birth video double-whammy grin

Lettucesnow Wed 15-Jan-14 16:44:44

A really BAD entertainment would be the family photograph album...on powerpoint. (Grin)

NearTheWindmill Wed 15-Jan-14 13:21:14

lightly fried halloumi with lime dressing and rocket with black rye bread
Guard of Honour (lamb fillets) with a shallot, redcurrant, rosemary and breadcrumb stuffing; gratin dauphinoise; with purple sprouting brocolli
Lemon and raspberry baskets
Coffee and truffles

Entertainment - don't know - always stumps me - possibly get someone to come and give a fortune telling but just for fun.

WilsonFrickett Wed 15-Jan-14 13:08:00

I always get drunk and forget the coffee, would that cost me points?

Hazelbrowneyes Wed 15-Jan-14 12:46:27

Starter: Squash ravioli in a chilli & butter sauce

Main: Non refined but absolutely gorgeous: Oxtail stew with mashed potato and a selection of veg
More refined: Medallions of fillet of beef (rare), dauphinoise potatoes, roasted veg with a red wine jus

Dessert: trio: Gin & Tonic sorbet, lemon & lime cheesecake, salted caramel truffles

Coffee served with homemade shortbread

Loads of booze

No "forced" entertainment.

pregnantpause Wed 15-Jan-14 12:30:03

No entertainment- it always costs the game. But I would put some choice items to be found on the tour- chains and what not. The comments I could watch afterward would be hilarious.grin
