My wild Keta salmon is a funny grey colour when cooked...

... will it kill us?

It's in date and smells ok, I just don't fancy the look of it. I've never seen salmon that colour before.

We've all just had bad tummy bugs so I really don't want to repeat that experience!

We had freshly caught salmon recently and it was very pink.

Not sure about that. But don't know anything about Keta salmon.
Maybe it's meant to be like that.

Wild salmon is not the same bright pink of farmed salmon but is rather a soft pinky grey. If it smells fine I'm guessing it is fine.

I gave it to DH grin and we all had different salmon from the freezer. I tried to google and it did allude to it being a different colour. Thanks smile

The blood of the salmon is grey when cooked. If it has bleed under the skin, or not been "bled" properly during slaughter, it will be a grey layer between the flesh and the skin. Fresh salmon (wild) is a soft grey pink, not flush red-pink.

I have just had the same problem. Should I eat it?
