I was just pondering this very morn how much stuff I have in. Cereal, porridge, rice, pasta, couscous, lentils, noodles, flour, sugars, baking powder, bicarbonate, corn flour, nuts and dried fruits for cooking I have a whole drawer of these, spices, dried herbs, cake decorating stuff, extracts, essences, stock, salt, pepper, vinegars, oils, alcohol, ice cream cornets, cat food, squash, sauces, soup, tinned toms, tuna, sardines, anchovies, jam, marmalade, Marmite, Bovril, coconut milk, condensed milk, golden syrup, maple syrup, honey.
I put together a basic store cupboard box for DS1 the other day as he's moved into a houseshare . It included seasonings, Worcestershire sauce, vinegars, cumin, coriander and cinnamon, oils, tinned beans, toms, mustards, peanut butter, sugar, tea, etc.... Think there is a list in one of the Jamie O books for store cupboard essentials, DS just has to add meat, veg and dairy now. He's a good cook so pretty sure he'll be adding more.
I'm jealous. My cupboards are stuffed full of all sorts some of which I've hardly used. I wish I could just toss it all out and start again. I have a little fantasy of being so organised that I would have a back up cupboard that I'd replenish once something went into kitchen cupboard iykwim. You could do it when you're starting off from scratch and you'd never run out of anything again. Your first big shop would be mighty expensive right enough having to buy two of everything but what a domestic goddess you'd be!
