A lovely friend of ours, plus a couple of others, is coming over tomorrow night for dinner. He doesn't eat meat, wheat or dairy and every other time he has come I have cooked miso and honey salmon with Asian rice salad. Easy and delicious...but we need a change! Nothing too labour intensive please, I love cooking but am feeling a bit under the weather at the moment.

Please does anyone have any ideas (bonus points for desserts because I've never come up with any except fruit salad! Grin)

what about a fish pie but use root veg for the mash and fish or veg stock for the white sauce rather than milk (I make all my white sauces this way). or a fish gratin with wheat free breadcrumbs on top and some wilted spinach on the bottom of the gratin

Veggie curry I reckon.

Chilli or currie? Veggie shepherds pie?

Gordon Ramsay has a lovely Malaysian chicken recipe that I have made with prawn or vegetables before instead. Serve with sticky rice.

I'd bake a whole side of salmon in foil with whatever flavour mixture springs to mind (I personally like lime, chilli and spring onions), add mini roasted potatoes or home made spicy potato wedges and a nice green salad and call it good I think, if you aren't feeling well. Nice and easy.

For dessert...hmm, sorbet? Bought, if you're under the weather, unless you can be arsed to make some. Jazz it up in a nice bowl with some fresh fruit if you feel like it.

Great ideas, thank you. Have found a delicious sounding fish curry but looks quite a lot of work just getting the ingredients! Also a nigelissima almond cake which is wheat and dairy free...will look at yours too Trixy.

Whole salmon sounds great, as do meringues. Will look for the GR curry.

Thanks again, you have given me the encouragement I needed, was thinking of resorting to takeaway as I'm so not in the mood Grin
