Impressive but surprisingly easy dishes to make
Making a lasagne and the ragu part is sooooo bland and flavourless. I've added more beef stock, more tomato puree and some balsamic vinegar but it's still dull. Any ideas?
I sometimes add a pinch of sugar, Worcestershire sauce or a small teaspoon of marmite, depending on what I think it's lacking. Also try adding a bit more seasoning, just a touch more salt can perk up most dishes.
Worcester sauce? Pinch of sugar? Herbs, ?
Wine and fresh basil if you have it.
Worcestershire sauce and mustard powder if you have any in
Wine? I wish.Am not adding any salt as it needs to be toddler-suitable. Might try a spoonful with a little salt to see if that's the whole problem
Take out a portion for the toddler(s) and then add a lot teaspoon of salt?
that would be the best option but the sneaky bugger prefers the shirt off my back food off my plate so I have to give myself a larger portion then 'share' it. <sigh>
Pinch of chilli flakes? Not so much that you can feel the heat just enough to give a little oomph. Smoked paprika works too, again just a pinch.
