Slow Cooker

I bought a slow cooker last month and have tried a few of the suggested recipes, but none of them have really stacked up. Chicken with skin is too greasy, skin disappears into the pot and recipes that say plonk a bottle of wine in are too bitter ... Any suggestions ??

i take chicken skin off before cooking. try something tomato based to start you off - eg curry. wine - you could add teaspoon of sugar. or just use some wine and some stock. you won't need much/any liquid as it doesn't evaporate.

there are loads of recipes on here

If you're new to slow cooking, as dreaming says, some tomato based ones are good. Spag bol sauce, chilli con carne, soup recipes are great as veggies turn to mush and can be blended easily or left as it is for a bit of bite.

For meat, fry off some onions, put them in the slow cooker. Then add gammon on top, and a bottle of cider. Cook on high for about 4-5 hours or low for 8. Yummy.

With whole chicken, there's no need to really add stock or water. Just add the chicken, season well and maybe add a couple of tbsp of water if you want.
