My long-time veg refusing DS2 (4) has just decided that he will try some new vegetables! He asked to try carrot and cucumber, and although he wasn't keen on the tastes, I was so excited that he actually wanted to try something!

So, what would you offer him next time he asks to try something? He will eat mashed potato but that's about it at the moment.

Sweet potato? Thinnish slices cook nicely under the grill with a bit of oil.

Or roast peppers on a pizza?

Oh and DS likes peas - frozen petits pois both cooked and straight from the freezer!

Try mashing some sweet potato or swede in with the normal potato?
Carrots roasted with honey or maple syrup?
Tiny bits of pepper or even pieces of sweetcorn on a pizza?
Grated carrot in muffins, or in a sandwich?
If he eats omelettes, try Spanish omelette with tiny pieces of pepper etc in it.

Thank you! I love the sound of the grilled sweet potato - I'd love that, even if DS doesn't! I will try the peas too - DH loves them straight from the freezer, so hopefully that might be hereditary....

Will he eat cherry tomatoes? You can make cute baby kebabs with cubed cheese, cherry toms, etc on cocktail sticks.

Pesto? It's easy to add spinach, rocket etc to that.

celeriac and sweet potato chips, my dc love them. Bit of oil and in the oven. :)

Both my dc really loved broccoli. Its a vegetable (little trees!) that lots of babies and toddlers seem to enjoy.

Ooh lots more ideas - brilliant! I will definitely try these - it will be so great to have a bit more variety - I get so bored of making the same things all the time. He does eat rice, so maybe I could add something to that?

My DD loves carrots, miniature sweetcorn and stringless beans! I think the miniature sweetcorn is her fave! Grin

Sweet corn popular here. Think it's due to the colour. Also roast parsnip and sweet potato and carrot mashed together.

What about colouring rice with some beetroot or spinach?Cutting the veg into funny shapes(sandwiches with faces on them) or a bit of deception (smuggling the veg as something else)?
