I know Jilted - I keep telling him to make an effort, but honestly it's a waste of time. We have plenty of cookbooks at home, but he refuses to follow recipes properly with the end result often being inedible!

I did think about some lentil soup or dhal. But a casserole/stew sounds lovely too. Think I will get the slow cooker out this week.

Am not wanting pasta for some reason (and we eat LOTS of it in our house)

I craved veggie pasta after I had the flu, fried up onion garlic pepper tomato, a dollop of harrisa and a dollop of Creme fraiche all mixed into cooked pasta

definitely lentil soup:

fry an onion and some garlic
once softened, add some spices (cumin, coriander, garam masala, ginger and a little bit of turmeric) fry for a few seconds.
then tip in lentils.
add stock
a wee squeeze of tomato puree

Simmer for about 30 minutes (keep an eye on it and add more stock if it starts to look dry).

Pure goodness!

You have my sympathy, I've beem ill all week with a chest infection and feel totally buggered.

Yesterday I did manage to stick a casserole in the oven, which we had for tea. Took about 10 mins to prepare.

Think you seriously need to work on your DH though. He is an adult and having not mastered a basic life skill is embarrassing.

I've been laid up in bed all week with flu hmm and am just starting to feel human again. Unfortunately DH isn't a great cook, so have been fed toast/tinned soup etc, but now I'm craving something nutritious and easy to digest to help my body recover.

Do you have any simple tried and tested foods/recipes that you always turn to after a bout of illness? Something quick that I could make or that even DH and the kids could manage? Thanks
