DT1 has gone right off sandwiches - she gets sausage rolls one day a week and would happily have them every day if she could! I'm wracking my brain trying to come up with some alternatives and would love some suggestions please.

She doesn't eat (either at all or not keen on) - pasta, cucumber/celery sticks, cherry tomatoes .... there's stacks more, I just can't think right now!

She will eat (or tolerate) - carrot sticks, strawberries, ham, maybe a little cheddar.

I'm thinking along the lines of breadsticks with bits and bobs to nibble at (but what to get a good balance?) but that would just be one day. She can have a bread roll one day so that's 3 in total including the sausage rolls so would need ideas for two more days if anyone has some bright ideas.

She also gets a frube/fruit and some homemade baking (cake, flapjack, cookie etc).

Thanks!

wraps?
strips of pitta bread and little pots of different dips?
cooked chicken, new potatoes, salady bits?
Or a flask with something hot: my DDs love soup or chilli days, especially when it's so cold!

Spanish omelette chunks?

Grapes?

Little pot of hoummus or cream cheese with pitta to dip?

Slice of cold pizza? (Although it makes me shudder!)

Would she eat a cheese scone or savoury muffin maybe?

A bagel and cream cheese?

Quiche? Tortilla wraps? those square bread things that warburtons (i think) do which are a kind of ciabatta/pitta hybrid?

I love ham and pease pudding rolled up into sausages, or you could do that with cream cheese and cucumber etc

Just remembered that I used to make tiny quiches for the dds in jam tart tins.

Oh and they sometimes used to take cold veggie hotdog sausages.

cocktail sausages (OK not the most healthy choice!)

Hard boiled egg/scotch egg

quiche/pasty

buttered cream crackers/ritz crackers

buttered slices of baguette/crusty bread

cheese straws

cold sausage

If carrot and strawberries are all she likes fruit and veg-wise I'd just give her a little pot of those quite often. Would she eat melon or mango?

Have you tried giving her different shaped sandwiches using cookie cutters?

Little savoury eggs
Little rice cakes with cream cheese
Cheese and veg scones or muffins
Scotch pancakes
Mini brioche
Cous cous ? My DD likes a little tub of it now and again.
Fruit/jelly pots
Pitta bread and hummus
Jacobs Oddities
Salami
Innocent smoothie cartons
Peach flap jack
Garlic bread or foccaccia fingers

You could also try cutting sandwiches with a cookie cutter into cute shapes, just to make them appeal again.

Wow! I went out to collect DS from BB and what a lot of replies. Some lovely ideas. I should have said that she doesn't do eggs or rice or peppers or anything that normal children eat, for that matter! Infact, God only knows how she is as healthy looking as she is because she's the pickiest eater I have ever come across!

Anyway, I really like some of these suggestions. Is a savoury, hidden veg-type muffin okay as a 'main' for lunch? If so, I can whip up something when she's not here to see me so it on Monday. She always has fruit, yogurt and something along the lines of homemade biscuit etc - it doesn't mean that she eats it though! I'll definitely try shaped sandwiches - she's on ham or jam Blush just now. Cocktail sausages (cold) and a crusty roll every now and again are a good alternative for sausage rolls!

I feel re-invigorated now - thanks! Was really losing the will to live looking at half eaten sandwiches for the last fortnight so a new start beckons next week.

Feel free to keep making suggestions - sorry if I keep rejecting lovely ideas but she really is awfull fussy! Grin
