How do I sweeten chestnut puree?

I am making a pudding which, I now know, calls for sweetened chestnut puree. I didn't know this when I bought my chestnut puree earlier. How can I make what I've got sweet. I am guessing adding a fine sugar, but any actual knowledge would be gratefully received.

I have to be off now but will be back eye-splittingly early in the morning. Thanks!

Icing sugar works really well, just add a bit at a time until you think it's sweet enough. I beat the puree and sugar together with a wooden spoon till smooth, then serve in brandy baskets (so 80s!) and creme fraiche. Massively fattening, tastes amazing.

Wow. Now that's knowldege. Thanks very much.

I am making chestnut ice cream to go in a meringue cake. Thanks for reminding me about frozen things needing to be sweeter.

Mirai - your dessert sounds delicious and a damn site more practical than mine.
