Hi I'm new to mums net so not really sure how this works......

I struggle with breakfast time and getting the children out to school on time. I have a 4 & 6 year old who take forever eating. In the end i end up feeding them after i have got ready. Which then makes us late?

Any one any tips on morning order, breakfast, dressed, brush teeth and how much time to allow?

Thanks

I hate my mornings too. I need to get up earlier that's my problem. I should leave at 8.20 so I get up at 7.20-7.30 which is not enough time.

I lay the table the night before and all the uniforms are ready and I start the packed lunches the night before.

Thank you Savoycabbage. Yes think that might be half the problem i don't get up early enough. My timings are similar to yours.

Its the children dragging their feet with each task, ie getting dressed, brushing teeth. They just won't do it independently and rely on me too much!

Mine seem to forget what they are supposed to be doing and start playing a game or whatever when they are supposed to be brushing their teeth. Mine are older than yours, 8&6.

I keep jam, butter, honey and some knives on the table and they are supposed to spread their own toast. Then I have weetabix and one other cereal in plastic tubs that they can do themselves too.

OK! Here's my morning (mind you I don't go out to work, but I childmind and first baby is dropped of at 7:30);

Me get up at 6.30, wash, dressed, ready by 6:50.
Kids get up at 7, DH prepares them orange juice and a plate of fruit, which they eat whilst watching The School of Silence on CBBC
7:30, TV off, breakfast on the table (cereals, occasionaly waffles)
8:00 they get dressed whilst watching scooby doo
8:20, scooby doo finishes, brush teeth, wash faces hands, coats on, out the door at 8:35.

So our mornings are ruled by TV program times! Perfect timing.

They are 5 and 7.

DH=Darling Husband!

But I should say, they don't watch tv in the evening (except a movie on Fridays and some TV at weekends)!... I am just not a morning person!!

Oh yes and the oven timer is my friend. I set it for 5 minutes and they have to have their shoes on, coats on, gloves on, bags ready by the time the bell rings. Whatever works!

Things have gotten slack recently but I'll kick ass through advent because they need to be ready in time to get the advent choc or I get it -and they know I mean it, so we'll have a few efficient weeks. Twill be lovely!
