Chocolate 44 or coffee 44

1 orange stabbed 44 times
44 small pieces of plain chocolate/44 coffee beans inserted in the slits in the orange
44 cubes of sugar
1l vodka/alcohol for fruit - whichever is cheapest

Put the stabbed orange with its chocolate/coffee beans in a large wide-necked screw-top jar ie kilner/le parfait type
Add the sugar
pour over the vodka

Keep for 44 days, giving the odd shake, or until it's all dissolved

Drink grin
Warning, if you keep it in the fridge, it sets solid and can be a bugger to get out of a large kilner/le parfait preserving jar, just when you want it for something else.
Warning - it causes lethal hangovers if you drink too much of it.

I'm doing chrismas pudding vodka from hairy bikers Christmas book, and in case I don't like it, daim bar vodka (two dime bars crunched in bottle of vodka, shake every few days, and, when ready, strain choc out and drink, it really is nice)smile

I made homemade Baileys once and hated it. It had raw egg white in it and I really didn't like the texture. Wouldn't recommend it.

By itself. In a small glass

Ooh, I already have some sloe gin, forgot about it actually.

Do you drink it by itself or does it go in tonic? <ignorant>

Sloe gin is lovely if you can find some sloes locally. Just prick each one with a pin, add to the gin, and add lots of sugar and leave, ideally for a few months, but if you made it now you might find it drinkable by christmas

Can anyone help?

I'd like to make some nice alcohol to drink on Christmas e.g. a homemade baileys or toffee vodka.

Anyone have any tried and tested recipes? TIA
