Was feeling particularly housewifely last week I think! I don't have a breadmaker though. Any thoughts?

Bread! The recipe I use doesn't need a breadmaker or even a mixer

this Dan Lepard recipe

Minimal, I mean minimal kneading. It turns out lovely.

Pizza bases. Naan bread.

Sounds easy Hoohoos! Question - do I have to get special flour? Have plain wholemeal?

Strong (bread)flour would be best, but it will still be edible with "normal" flour - although loaves made entirely with wholemeal flour are usually rather heavy.

You just need bread flour - Strong White Flour. More gluten in it IIRC I haven't made that recipe with wholemeal - it may need a different amount of liquid TBH.

But own brand strong white flour is cheap - about 90p for 1.5kg.

Most bread recipes work fine using 1/3 wholemeal to 2/3 white flour. Same goes for scones, particularly cheese ones smile

Doughnuts (but make them when the kids are at school so you can eat them all yourself)....
