DP loves baking and DS (and me) love eating the results. However, DS can be a PITA about food. As part of a new regime to help with this we'd like healthier snacks. Will do fruit/cheese/nuts etc in the afternoons, but we'd like to have a healthier home bake in the mornings. We've a few recipes for carrot muffins, flapjack etc in our existing books but I'd like to get a new baking book for DPs birthday that's mostly healthy cakes i.e. a bit less sugar, more fruit/veg/nuts.An ideas?

How about Eat Me?

Load of yummy baking recipes split into the four seasons. Many of them include vegetables and the end results are delicious!

Hi,
There's a book called Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. And it's actually quite good!
Failing that, I have some healthy baking recipes on my blog, but depends how 'healthy' you want to go when it's for your kids.
One easy one for flapjack, is use thick rolled oats, peanut butter and maple syrup instead of butter and tate&lyle.
Recipe is on here: //www.veganbody.net

Thanks Beanbagz. I'll have a look at that in Waterstones. Not sure whether it might be rather to pink for DP. He is in touch with feminine side though, so maybe.

VeganBody that sounds like a good possibility too. Will definitely check out your blog. Sadly can't use the flapjack recipe as I'm allergic to peanuts (blotchy allergic, not ring 999 allergic) and the DCs are under 5. Will definitely try it for them when they're older though as I was horrified the first time I made flapjack at how much sugar and butter goes into it. Until then I had always thought them a healthy option.
