Ideas for toddler Halloween party!

So Iv had a crazy Idea to host a little party at ours for Halloween!
Invites already out so no going back..

Approx 12 children between 9months- 4 years

Iv kept it quite short and figure it will be ok!

Anyway, I'm planning a finger food buffet. Something with minimal mess and that most can have a go at. I want it to pass for actual dinner rather than just sandwiches ( mine don't like sandwiches much either)

Any ideas appreciated. So far I'm thinking:
Mini pizzas
Breaded fish pieces
Mini muffins ( some savoury, some sweet.maybe cheese and spinach so they look green and gross,)

And then drawing pumpkin faces on little satsumas and some other fruit for desert. Plus some jelly.

I hope to make the above ( top three) in advance later this week and freeze until the day as wont have much time the few days before/ morning of party

What would be your kids top favourites?

DS likes hotdogs or mini sausages with ketchup
He also likes mini kievs cut in half with a dab of ketchup. He calls them 'blood eyes'. But he's weird like that.
Roast baby new potatoes go down well with him too.

Make hotdog spiders! Thread dried spaghetti through hotdog pieces (I chopped my hotdogs into 3rds) then simmer gently in a pan of water to cook the spaghetti. Kids will love them!

Can you get decent hot dogs? I mean, are there some out there better than others?

We do two good puddings:

Mud and worms (chocolate angel delight with gummy worm sweets in)
Pond slime with frogs (mushed up green jelly with the frog sweeties from Haribo packets)

They go down very well with the DCs and the adults Grin

I shall investigate the spiders.

Those puddings sound grat but v messy! We don't have space to seat 12 so they will be having a blanket on the floor with the food on table to choose from. Some are crawling/ toddling age so I would rather avoid too much gunk on walls! ( we have white furniture and rugs! We are doomed aren't we)

We did a halloween toddler party last year and are planning one this year too.

Spaghetti spiders sound great and plan to try them this year.

Last year we did sandwiches but used halloween cookie cutter so make shaped sandwiches.
We also did Banana ghosts. Cut bananas into halves and add choc chip drops for the eyes. like these
Did the Orange pumpkin faces too.

Am loving the spider hot dog idea. You can also turn spaghetti (or any pasta) green by adding a fairly generous splash of food colouring to the boiling water. Tomato sauce looks like blood. We add meatballs... or eyeballs! I also do hot dog fingers wrapped in tortilla strips to look like bandages. You can carve finger nails and knuckles into the hot dogs. Bake in over for ten mins to heat through and then splash on the ketchup for blood. In the past we have also made our own pizzas in the shape of skulls, just get creative with the cheese toppings to leave space and make eye holes etc We also lke to do a big bowl of fruit punch. If you get a vinyl glove and fill it with water/splash red food colouring... tie a knot and freeze. When you take it out, remove the glove and you have a lovely floating hand to bob around in your punch. You can also freeze raisins in ice cube trays to look like bugs. We also do mudpie for puds... its halloween, they are going to eat more junk in one night than they do the rest of the year put together!

oh im jealous! i did a little toddler party last year and wish i was doing again this year (will either have very new baby or be in labour so i think its a no no).

i did cocktail suasages, pumpkin iced cookies (pretty sure i got that recipe from mumsnet, will have a look now) and cupcakes with spiders web icing, you know the kind where you do concentric circlesand drag out with a toothpick to make web, as well as all the usual sandwiches and fruit.

hee hee, think I enjoy the halloween parties more than the kids. I'm a childminder too so we always try and make it a bit of a party. We sometimes do the mummy game with older kids which is like pass the parcel but with a toilet roll. It takes a bit of prep but the kids love it.... unwrap a white loo roll and sellotape sweets, toy bugs at intervals along, wrap back around the roll. (it will be lumpy but dont worry). Play music and when it stops the kids, with a bit of adult help, have to wrap themselves up in the 'bandages' like a mummy until they reach a toy/sweet. Then music starts again and off you go.

Makes a change from dooking apples!
