Has anyone ever used lemon extract instead of lemongrass?

I'm making this chickpea and pumpkin dish for this evening and the supermarket didn't have lemongrass. Could I use lemon extract instead? If so how much would I use? The recipe says 3 large stalks of lemongrass. Thanks.

Sorry no idea but I keep powdered lemon grass in my spice cupboard as shops around us rarely have it when I need it. Also available as a squeeze y tube, obviously for future reference. I just goggled lemon grass substitute and read use zest of one lemon for 2 stalks of lemon grass :)

Thanks so much multipoodles. Will look into for the next time I make this dish. Have just bought lemon extract from Sainsburys where it was on offer - along with orange and almond extract - can you tell I love an offer?? Was quite excited at the thought of using it in this recipe but will have to make a cake instead.
