Does your dh/dp eat five portions of fruit and veg a day?

I'm always nagging dh, but it's a struggle.
He eats maybe two to three portions a day.
He just loves biscuits and other unhealthy stuff, while still being very slim, so he can't really see what the problem is.

He eats at least as many as me. Probably he has 1 or 2 fruits a day. Then he has quite a high proportion of veg in his main meal. Sometimes at weekend lunches we will have veg or sald included.

that said he has been working away most of the last few weeks, he exists on canteen food pizzas, curries and pub meals and of course beer.
Despite living 2 mins away from the best Sainsburys in the UK
Mmmmmm

No DH manages 5+ portions of chocolate. I usually do a plie of roast veg with dinner and DH only eats a little of this.

He's a grown up... I'm not responsible for his diet.

Probably only eats one or two most days, but if I'm going to nag it'll be to get him to stop smoking...

OH yes and then some! He is far better than me.

He is very overweight and has high cholesterol - since September he has been on a diet (has lost two stone already) and fills up on fruit when he is hungry.

This is an issue for me as I cook family meals. Lots of recipes in books etc are not what I would consider balanced. Eg I made Jamie Oliver's chicken tikka masala and basmati rice. It has an onion in. What would you serve with it to include a veg portion?

Yes, he's fanatical about it. And drinks gallons of water.

Bozza, I usually do cucumber raita as a sort of vegetable equivalent with those kind of dishes.

Mmmm - good idea dinasour - DS loves cucumber. I think I see raita as more of a sauce than a veg, but I suppose that's just a question of quantities.

We often get a large cucumber in our organic vegetable box, so the raita tends to be quite, er, cucumber heavy.

Usually - providing we have a proper dinner as opposed to, say, beans on toast. He loves fruit - he even eats orange peel.

I often put onions and peppers into curries to get a bit of veg in. Could you add raisins to the rice? Green beans are quite nice in curries too.

DH eats as much fruit and veg as I give him! He moans at me for not eating enough (I can often be found counting my glass of orange juice, the raspberries on my cheesecake, strawberries in my jam )

Seriously though, he has soup most days for lunch (usually ones which count as one or two veg portions), we have at least three (four if you count potatoes) portions of veg with most of our evening meals, we eat a couple of satsumas each in the evening, and then a glass of two of orange or apple juice. Not too bad.
