When can I decorate my Xmas cake?

I'm feeling rather impatient after a trip to the local cake decorating shop.

Is it far too early to do the cake now?

Sad
I'll just have to make another cake to decorate.

Blush Sorry. I should say, I don't know anything about whether it's too early or not. I was being flippant and bandying about a gavel. (surely it should be a palette knife in the cakes topic?!)Grin

@Kayzr

I'll just have to make another cake to decorate.

Now, THAT sounds like a plan...Grin

I think it's best to leave the icing until as late as possible (can't remember the reason, icing goes hard?), You should marzipan it then leave it for a few days to a week then ice it and decorate it. Or decorate it now and eat it then just make another one Smile

if you ice it now, you can't feed it anymore Shock

Is whisky the only option for feeding? Any non alcoholic alternatives?

make some very strong black tea, you can feed it that as well

but make a fresh brew each time Smile

You can soak the dried fruit and feed it orange juice too.
