Tips requested for chicken roll for DD1s lunchbox tomorrow

DD1 has requested a chicken roll for her lunch tomorrow. Big improvement on her normal plain white breadroll. She would like plain roll with Chicken filling - no butter or other fillings.

Two questions:
Any food safety issue with chicken (breast meal from roasted chicken) sitting in normal lunchbox for 4 hours or so?

Is the chicken likely to make the bread roll soggy? Would I be better to wrap chicken in tin foil and have her to add it to the roll herself at lunchtime?

She is so fussy about lunch, I am trying to ensure it won't be rejected at lunch time tomorrow. And to hopefully be able to make it a regular lunch item.

I'd wrap the chicken roll in foil. If you freeze her drink overnight, put it in her lunchbox in the morning then it will keep her lunchbox cool.

I sent ds to school with hot dog buns and frankfurters inside a flask with hot water once, he was over the moon! By lunch time the hot water was still hot, just not boiling. I taught him to drain the water away safely before he took the hotdogs out so he didn't burn himself.

Thanks - I'll try the foil. And the frozen drink tip too.

It may not completely defrost by lunch time so I'd put 2 drinks in, 1 that isn't frozen. It's great in the summer, gives them a cold drink in the hot weather Smile. You can get ice packs which do the same job, just freeze and pop in the lunch box. Just teach her not to eat them though Grin

I use frozen yoghurt tubes/pouches as freezer packs in a coolbag, they stay cold and means no risk of DD1 spilling a carton all over her lunch!

I use small reusable ice packs in the kids lunch bags - you can get them in the supermarkets, matalan, etc
