What do you feed them on school pick-up?

I'm looking for ideas of easy things to give my boys when they come out of school and are starving! If I turn up with fruit they moan! They are 7 and 4, but it also needs to be suitable for their 17 month old brother as well. Sweets obviously always go down well but I don't want them to expect them every time they come out as feel it should be an occasional treat. They always have fruit and crisps or fruit flakes in their lunchbox so I'm looking for other ideas.

Thanks!

I give mine a chocolate chip brioche or a small sandwich. Never fails to amaze me how ravenous they can be right after school.

It depends how long until their tea.

If you want something substantial to keep them going for a couple of hours, half/quarter sandwiches/bagels, or a few crackers each with cheese or ham and a bit of cucumber.

Malt loaf. They're happy to tear it apart and eat lumps.
Hot cross buns or tea cakes go down well too.
Pancakes (if you're English you might call these Scotch Pancakes, but I'm Scottish, so I call them pancakes!)

i'm obviously a cruel mother as i would let them have fruit and ignore their moaning. could they choose the type of fruit?

Meh. I offer them fruit. If they don't want it, they're not that hungry.

True - I'm obviously a bit of a pushover! Hmm

Nothing.

I collect dc1 (7) at 3.30, then straight in car to collect dc2 (4) at just after 4, then back hoe by 4.15/4.20ish. tea is at about 5, and they are perfectly able to wait until then.

they seem to be surviving so far...

are you meaning at the school gates or when you get them home?

mine have to wait till they get in, can have fruit or yoghurt and if they don't want it they obviously aren't hungry and can wait until tea at 5.30!
