Any tips on adjusting time/temp of oven please.

I baked a cake today. It was a little burnt by the time I took it out of the oven. The recipe said to Put the cake on for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours fir 180 c.

Should I reduce the time or my temp the next time I attempt the recipe?
