Have been doing mine for next week (am too lazy busy at the end of the week to do it) and am nosy.

This week we have
Sun - had roast dinner with turkey steaks instead of joint, mash, mixed veg, broccoli, yorkshire puds and gravy.

Mon - kids had leftover roast dinner. Me and dh had pasta carbonara which is the only creamy sauce dh will eat although he does cover it in balsamic vinegar

Tue - dh is now going out to ruin my plans so we will have dinner at lunchtime (fried potatoes, bacon, egg and beans) and kids will have veg sticks/cheese/ham/bread roll for dinner. Dh will eat out and I will scrape something together from cupboards.

Wed - MEatballs with cream sauce, mash (me & dd), oven chips (ds & dh), mixed veg

Thursday - HM pizza with garlic bread and salad.

Friday - pasta and tomato sauce (me & dh), kids will have veg sticks with cheese/ham/sausages or whatever we can rustle up. May make them some garlic bread to go with it.

Saturday - don't know probably macdonalds

Next week (haven't planned which day for which)

white fish, spinach, baby potatoes wtih spicy tomato and chorizo sauce

sausage, chorizo and lentil casserole, baby potatoes, yorkshire puddings (don't ask) & mixed veg (ds will have a sausage instead of the casserole)

pasta carbonara (kids to have veg sticks/cheese etc)

HM pizza/garlic bread/salad

Meatballs with cream sauce, mash (me & dd), oven chips (ds & dh), mixed veg

Make your own burrittos - chicken in marinade, fried onions/peppers, spicy rice, hot sauce, salad and grated cheese with wraps.

Pasta N sauce (kids to have veg sticks/cheese etc).

What are you having?

ok change of plan - next week we will not be having carbonara as after having it tonight I am beginning to remember why we stopped eating it. The richness/creaminess is making me feel a bit queasy.

I will have 3/4 pot of cream to use up though so will be having potato gratin with sausages and baked beans for me/dh and corn on the cob for the kids.

Ooh I like a good meal plan thread

Yesterday- roast chicken
Today - fajitta's
Tuesday - bolognaise pasta bake
Wednesday - cottage pie
Thursday fish chips & peas
Friday - ds will have Spag Bol we are having Thai baked rice thingy
Saturday - homemade curry and naan

I'm intrigued by the veg sticks and things... Do you mean like crudités? What do you serve those with. Shamelessly looking for ideas for ds on the nights we have spicy food..

Am trying to get out of doing a 'big' shop this week by using up what we have.

So we have Dolmio and I am buying mince to go with it for spag bol.

Got sausages and am buying potatoes for sausage, mash and onion gravy.

Got tins tomatoes and chorizo so will do a pasta bake with some courgettes and peppers.

Boys can have fishfingers and chips on Friday and I will have a salad. DH may or may not eat depending on what he has had in the day.

THEN, on Saturday we won a £100 voucher on Mumsnet to spend at Jamie's Italian so that is sorted for Saturday.

List for this week is

Minced beef
Potatoes
Bread

Storm - I often do a huge plate of salady bits for the boys when we have spicy food.......carrot sticks, pepper, cucumber, mushrooms, fresh peas, apple, pear, and then slices of cheese or hummus and breadsticks.

Their plates are wiped clean.

Collision that sounds great, ds is only one but loves having a plate full of different things - some times I can do him the same as us. So tonight he had the chicken, peppers, onions, tortilla, cheese and soured cream all on a plate and he loved it so definitely an option.

veg sticks is just cucumber/carrots/pepper chopped into sticks. I tend to do cheese/ham/cocktail sausages and then some kind of carb. They wolf it down. sometimes add sliced apple and raisins as well. Pineapple if they are really lucky.

we're lucky in that 13 month dd loves spicy food so pretty much eats everything we do (only things she hates are pasta and broccoli pretty much). Ds will only eat plain foods without sauce so have to adapt stuff for him.

I am definately going to nick ideas liking these menus. Am also trying to clear some stuff from our cupboards/freezer, though slowly, in theory without immediately filling it up again.

Jamies Italian voucher Envy I hope you really enjoy it.

Tonight - Turkey and pepper pasta (tomatoey sauce)
Wed - Sausage and lentil casserole and bread (slow cooker meal as have a very quick turnaround to get DD out to Rainbows!)
Thurs - Salmon and brocolli pasta
Fri - Corned beef hash with beans (need something quick as DH is at work and we don't get home from swimming until after 5)
Sat - Chilli and rice (chilli from freezer as bulk-made last time)
Sunday - Scampi, oven chips and cauli/brocolli cheese

I meal plan on a Sunday for the week taking into account what is on for DDs school lunches, DSs nursery lunch/afternoon tea, whether DH is going to be home at teatime to help etc.

pregnantpause - what is your recipe for spinach dhal? I try to do one veggie meal a week but am running out of inspiration (mixed veg pasta, Jamie's cauliflower pasta, veggie risotto, baked pots with cauli and brocolli cheese are about the ones I tend to rotate)

These kinds of threads make me realise how we often don't eat at home...this week's plan is:
Tonight - pork shoulder braised with leeks and green peppercorns, spinach, steamed or mashed potatoes
Weds - working late, so probably ask the office canteen to make me an omelette to have at my desk - DH will probably get a thai takeaway
Thurs - supper with a colleague of DH's
Fri - dinner in town with my 3 best female friends
Sat - possibly round at another friends' place - but if not, chickpea curry, rice, tarka dhal, raita and roti
Sun - hearty soup, welsh rarebit and a big salad
Mon - pasta with bacon, chard and the random bits of cheese lurking in the back of the fridge

And then I wonder why we can't always get through even a mini vegbox Hmm

Onion, garlic, tumeric and chilli powder(half a teaspoon) cumin and mustard seeds(whole teaspoon) ten ounces of yellow split peas, 250g frozen spinach thawed and squeezed. Garam masala (to taste- I use two tsp) and lemon juice.

Saute onion and garlic for a bit, add your spices fry until mustard seeds start to pop. Add the peas and cover with 800 ml cold water, bring to boil and simmer until almost all liquid is absorbed. Stir in the spinach, a hanful of coriander, couple of teaspoons of garam masala, lemon juice to taste. Serve with yogurt and naan.

mmm garlic sausage - haven't had that for ages. Am going to have that on my pizza next week.

Dh won't eat meals without meat - fish at a push, so I tend to find we eat a lot of sausages/bacon and pork for a roast, with some mince thrown in for variety (I get bored of mince very quickly). We occassionally have chicken but as he only eats breast and its too expensive. Meat/fish is just getting too pricey.

Now its getting colder I might do a braised beef joint in the slow cooker week after next. Haven't had one in a while.

Monday - slow cooker Moroccan lamb stew with couscous
Yesterday - slow cooker ragu with spaghetti
Today - being taken out for dinner!
Tomorrow - slow cooker gammon with leeky mash, peas, carrots and green beans
Friday - fridge soup, but I have some cabbage, beans and parmesan rinds so might be more minestrone than my usual fridge special
Saturday - Indian takeaway
Sunday - big cooked brunch so am hoping I'll get away with just a picky tea - hummus, cheese, veg sticks, fancy bread, olives etc.
