Can I freeze basil? Was gonna do the obvious pesto but the price of Pine nuts is obscene and I simply cannot justify. Haven't got room in my freezer for loads of tomato basil sauce either. What can I do with it??

I freeze fresh herbs. They're great, because when you want to use them, they just crumble into whatever dish you're cooking.

Blend your basil into olive oil and then freeze in icecubes. Frozen by itself it goes black and horrible. The oil protects it a little

You can make pesto with other kinds of nuts (walnuts especially nice) or just with parmesan, garlic and olive oil.

Make it into nutless pesto and then if you ever see any nuts on sale buy them, thaw the pesto and add the nuts, then refreeze. Or make it without the nuts as Tyelperion says.

You can dry your basil in a very low oven for about 10 hours.
