We're hosting DD1's third birthday party on Sunday and unfortunately DN and some of her little friends are allergic to the above. Please can you help me come up with ideas for party food they can all eat? I'm on a budget so expensive substitutions are out.

So far, I've come up with:

Jellies
carrot sticks & humous
crisps
....erm Hmm

Parents of children with allergies often keep a stock of suitable food for them to take along to parties... so ask if they can bring something. Other than that.... hard-boiled eggs, ham & pineapple chunks on sticks, mini jacket spuds, little fruit skewers...

potato/sweet potato wedges
fruit dipped in dark chocolate
corn on the cobs (my kids love these), although not the same with out the lashings of butter ;)
popcorn
homemade burgers minus the bun
You can make a tasty coating for chicken, fish or veg with corn flour which is wheat free plus seasoning, spices and herbs, just rub in and bake or fry.

My LO is coeliac and his party is in a week all kids are getting chicken drumstick and chips

Last year we did a buffet and was chicken, nachos, veg, popcorn, corn cobs, wedges, ribs. Dessert was jelly/fruit/sauce

just make sure you check the ingredients of everything - some crisps, dark chocolate and so many other things have a dairy element in them...(not to mention soy!).

It's a nightmare, I don't know how my SIL copes. £3 for a tiny loaf of GF bread Shock And why on earth do they feel the need to put gluten and soya in corn flakes??

Popcorn, ham and pineapple sticks and hardboiled eggs are all great ideas, thank you.

Your SIL should be getting GF bread (and other GF food) on prescription if her DC is coeliac so she won't be paying £3 for a loaf!

Rice cakes would fit your requirements and can be topped with interesting things.
Fruit kebabs?

Haribo Grin

I've done temaki sushi for a party once - just leave the rice, fillings (smoked salmon, tinned tuna, ham, egg, cucumber - that kind of thing) and seaweed sheets on the table and guests roll their own sushi. No wheat, no dairy, and don't leave the soya sauce lying about.

Just saw it's for 3yos. Maybe a bit ambitious ...

I went to a 2yo who is allergic to everything's party yesterday. The mum made pizza from Free From flour and used sheep cheese on top (child allergic to cow's milk too). Then we had jelly and a Free From cake that she'd made. It was all delicious.
