My dear Mama has about 15 apple trees in the garden. If it can be cooked with apples, I have done it a thousand times.

I shall shortly be starting my own thread asking WTF I can do with 75kg oranges, about 250 pomegranates, 20kg lemons and a million (ish) figs,

I had a nice recipe for apple chutney, you could make some and give it as Xmas gifts as it takes a while to mature before being ready to eat!

For all of Mumsnet do you think!!! Seriously, I have so many Seville Oranges that I end up throwing some away as I'm sick to death of them. I take a sharp intake of breathe when I see the price of them in supermarkets back in England.

Apple jelly-
cut up apples into chunks (discard any bad bits but ok to keep stalks/flower ends/seeds, etc)
Cover with water and simmer for about half an hour.
When fruit is soft, strain through muslin (or a clean teatowel Blush ). (NB don't squeeze the cloth or your jelly will go cloudy).
For every pint and a half of liquid, add 3/4 lb sugar, then bring to the boil and simmer until it sets on a cold plate.

This jelly comes out (magically!) as a lovely ruby red colour, and is delicious as a jam, on toast, or in ham sarnis or with roast meats.

We have a huge stash of it already, and I'm making more all the time-no more supermarket jam for us! Wink

I've got friends near Marbella, it's a lovely place.

Why on earth would you want to move back to the uk from sunny spain?

Mumatron I bloody wish!

It is a lovely place, but I've done my time here now (7½ years) and lots of things have changed/happened in the past year that I just don't want to be here anymore. I am soooooo looking forward to coming back to London. I miss it. I love it. And frankly, I don't give a stuff about the weather!

Where are your friends? I'd laugh if they were near me, or even if I knew them! It's terribly small and insular here.
