I am cooking a clam stew with tomatoes, chorizo and butter beans (Good food recipe this months mag).

Typically supermarkets didnt have sherry vinegar - what can I use instead? hmm

Wine veingar, red or white, would be fine IMO. You could go mad getting the right things for all the recipes smile

Or cider vinegar. Don't use malt vinegar as it is too harsh.

I'll be round with the wine later wink

It makes me so cross when recipes insist on obscure ingredients when other similar things would be just as good. That's why I like Delia.

As Barry says, wine vinegar will be fine.

I agree Cointreau. I also get irritated by TV chefs airily saying that you can get obscure ingredients in any supermarket, or get your fishmonger do do such and such a task for you.

Not round here you don't. I live in a part of the country that has a very low ethnic minority and we don't have any fishmongers round here either.
