Fish Pie Risk Assessment

So I took the fish pie out of the oven at 10pm. It wasn't cool enough at 10.45pm to put in the fridge. Covered it, had a bath, and forgot to fridge it overnight. It went it fridge this morning at 7am.
Is it safe for:
me (pregnant),
2 year old DS,
Hardy Husband
?
I would say only the third should eat it really? Am I right? Am v annoyed with myself....

With fish you should be able to smell whether it has gone off pretty quickly and as the fish is cooked you might be okay. It was out for eight hours but the weather has been cool so I presume your kitchen wasn't too warm either.

I'd give it a smell test then a taste test, if you feel any concern then I would bin it. Trouble is though its not going to be a pleasant meal when you're going to worry about whether the fish is off or not...

you know what, ordinarily i wouldn't give it a second thought , but if you are pg I would be wary if it contains shellfish.
if it's just fish fish, then i probably would go for it.

Absolutely not, cannot believe you have even considered eating it after leaving it out for 8 hours!! Sorry,my husband is a chef and has done super advanced food hygiene courses and passed all this onto me,hopefully you didn't eat it?

Not worth the risk IMO...

Well, I'd eat it - where do you live?? Grin

In your circumstances (i.e.pg) I'd feed it to Hardy Husband, and would not give it to a 2yo.

I am sure it would be fine. Esp if its smoked fish, which is practically cooked anyway.

I'd serve it if the kitchen was cool overnight. I'm pg with a 2 year old and hardy husband as well. Sniff it and nuke it I think.

Ask your MIL. There's probably a reason your DH is so hardy...

I'd eat it.

I'd eat it; we forget now that it isn't so very many years ago that no-one had fridges and we couldn't afford to waste food. If we had been having very high temperatures during the night I might think twice but it has probably been as cool as the old fashioned pantries were and food then was kept for days.

Thank you all for your responses! The pie still sits in the fridge, uneaten and I had a burger as solace.
I think on balance I'm not going to eat it - and I won't let the 2 yr old. I think I'd just not enjoy it for the worry. DH may go ahead...He is rather keen on the idea of a kamikaze fish pie dinner date with Poledra (venue Oxford!)
Again, many thanks to all....
It was, alas, a very good fish pie (adapted Jamie Oliver recipe). But I did eat some of it before the leaving-out incident, so all was not lost.
