Would love to do dumplngs but DH wheat free. Can't get out for suet. Any substitutions that work anybody?

A coeliac friend does them with a mix of potato, rice and cornflour and coeliac suet - I assume there is a veg version.

Will try to get details..

I have just tried this out, but using butter as I had no lard. Worked brilliantly. Light and fluffy.

When you say 'mix' the lard etc. is it the rubbing in method?

It's like a scone then isn't it?

Actually i just squashed it with a fork until it looked a bit suet like, rather than rub in. Then stired in the water. But yes it must be a bit scone-ish. I will try it with a bit of cheese in there I think.
