Do goldfish like company?

We've had a fantail goldfish for 4/5 years. Originally there was another goldfish but he went to swim in the sky a while back. Current goldfish has now outgrown tank and I'm getting a much bigger tank for him. Should I look at getting another of similar size to keep him company or do they not care much about being an only?

They do like company, but he won't fade away on his own. How big is the new tank? Twice as many goldfish is twice as much poo!
