Does it exist? In the same vein, does anyone fancy any?! 12 were born this morning and while i can just about cope with 12 more in my main tank (fry are in a pets at home 15 quid jobby until they get bigger) , i know the females are planning on dropping some more!

Has anyone ever managed to sell guppies to pet shops etc? Any other ideas will be well received :-)

This is why I've never kept livebearers! Grin

I don't know if you'd have much luck selling them, it would depend on their appearance but I doubt you'd get much anyway. Your best bet is to contact your LFS and see what they say. If they do take the guppies off your hands then bear in mind some of them may end up as lunch for larger fish (although technically it isn't legal any more it's still practiced by some more old-school fishkeepers). You could also try local free-ads, Facebook selling groups etc.

If over-population is a problem you could keep separate male and female tanks although females can store sperm for a while so you may still get some babies for a while afterwards.

Yeh think ill I've Facebook and free ads a go , don't fancy them being lunch :-) scary how they can store sperm , I heard they can store different bloke fishes sperm and then choose who to get pregnant with ! No more babies this morning thankfully - I would just let nature take its course by leaving fry to chance it in the big tank, but I can't do it as I feel I've messed with nature by putting them in a tank in the first place ! :-/

I never have any problems selling them, in fact i have people waiting for fry. I only have a 160ltr tank and i use a 30ltr tank to keep fry in, i only keep them in there for a week or 2 and then they have to take their chances in my main tank until they are big enough to go to new homes (i sell them as soon as they can be sexed and have started to show their colours). If you dont want too many fry its best to let the fry get eaten (my mollies seem to gobble up a few).

I have lots of luck with fry, both guppy and mollies. I now swap then with my aunt so that the gene pool is a more mixed. they have to take their chances in my tank, and Frank ( my fighter) and his girlfriend (who hates him) LOVE munching on fry

I swap too, all my fry go to new homes so they dont get inbread with my others, i buy my males from one shop and my females from another so they are not related , i have kept one of my fry as he has amazing colours (have never seen a guppy like him).

Must be the time of year!
We had 3 new guppies 3 weeks ago, and last week 7 new ones.
We only have one tank, so we decided to leave the fry in ( rather than get another tank) and let nature take it's course. We have only had the tank up & running since September & we got 4 guppies in December. They must be happy Grin
I was expecting the fry to be eaten by the sword tails or platys that are getting quite big ....but no, are fry are big & strong & doing well.
We now have around 6 guppies to many. I think I might offer them to friends with tanks, otherwise we will be over run.

We currently have around 60 fry, guppies and mollies! I gave about 30 to my friend from my last lot of fry. I just seem to have a constant supply of fish ready to pop!

my fighter Frank and his girlfriend used to go around and eat all the fry, they dont seem to care anymore!
