Thunderstorm forecast tomorrow, so thought maybe I'd take the 5yo & 3yo to a matinee movie. I've never done this before.

  1. I have a 13 m old to take, too, is it hopeless? How annoyed will people be if I run around the theatre chasing a manic & silly, possibly grumpy 13m old in tow? I would try to aim to be there for his nap time, but I don't see how I can take a pushchair for him to sleep in, and he screams to sleep normally, except if he's in his cot.

  2. Would you normally book tix in advance? Movie is Madagascar, and there are at least 8 late morning/midday/early pm showings, so I reckon we must be able to get into one of the without having to book in advance.

More I think about it I think a terrible idea because of the 13m old, but may as well ask, anyway.

you are braver than I am zebra !

I don't think you will need to book in advance - I doubt the showings would be full. Also don't see why you can't take a pushchair in - maybe ring and check.

Is there any chance of the older two staying sitting watching the film while you wander round with ds2 in the pushchair at the back ot the hall until he falls asleep ?

Oh i'd go, if the worst comes to the worst you can just leave.
It might be nearly empty anyway for an earlier showing.

OR sit right next to the door and pick a nice woman with kids beforehand and just ask if you have to leave would she keep an eye out and get ds to sleep just outside the door. After all your children couldn't get out without you seeing and any woman would watch out i'm sure.

when ds is asleep sneak back in obviously, i didn't mean just leave them

I'm doing this tomorrow too with my 3 1/2 ds. However I've decided not to go to Madagascar as dd went today with friends and instead we're off to the Kids Club at 11 which is showing Robots, which we've not seen. Even better- I get in free! If it's a disaster it's only 1.95 for each child, instead of almost £15 for the 3 of us.
