Watched this last night -one of the best films I've seen. Acting superb, and a brilliamt account of the relationship between Clough and Peter Taylor. I'm not a football fan, but hail from Leeds so remember it all happening as a teenager.
The wallpaper and general house decor -they could have filmed it in my parents' house!
Well worth seeing.

really want to see this but am trying to give it a principled miss due to the lies and liberties taken by the books author in it's original print.
i will probably end up watching it when it's on sky though and just pretend i didn't do it.

Do watch it- the book was a novel, not a biography (I really enjoyed it too)
I am a big admirer of Clough- and don't feel the film portrays him in a negative light. On the contrary.
Leeeds United players come off worst.

well it's more the things which were written about johnny giles that would have me avoid it.
i accept that the book was meant to be a novel not a biography, but i think it's simply trying to circumvent normal libel laws by saying "oh it's a fictional novel, but i'm going to base it on real events and real people, but becuase i'm saying it's fictional i can write what i like about them and hide behind a loose disclaimer. while also inviting the reader to believe there must be some truth in it because i've said it's based on real events"

i'm a bit gutted because by all accounts it's a wonderful read but the subsequent successful court case taken by gilles would taint my reading of it ,not due to any great love of gilles, just that i'd be reading it and wondering which parts are accurate and which aren't after every page.

sorry just realised it was settled out of court with some changes, so no successful court case. (i'm just as bad as the author now with my own fictional reality)

Yes Giles didn't come over too well in the film (think irish navvy) - Bremner too- but be a devil- make it your guilty pleasure!
