It's been out for several weeks in Oz, but I see from "The Guardian" that it's just been released UK side. Go and see it. It's properly cinematic in its photography despite the feel-good/Channel 4 vibes which publicise it - not a tv film shown in cinemas.

Stay for the credits at the end.
Great soundtrack.

Lovely, lovely film; its heart in the right place but with stuff that has you heart-stopped with tension.

Isn't there a bit with a child and a spoon... ? I had been definitely planning to go and watch it until I heard about that bit.

Yes it's pretty clear that there will be eyeballs and a spoon in the movie (agree for those who are MNing whilst eating it is best not to quote directly. )If it was in the book I instantly forgot it. But then Trainspotting was so much more shocking on film than the book. Same director innit?

A child and a spoon....? Eh....?

Watched this last week it's fab. I actually forgot about the child and the spoon thing as it's only a small part of the story. I really enjoyed the whole film.

Went to see this last night with dp!
Amazing, best fill i've seen in a long time! deff one to see in cinema to get the full effect. Fantastic sound track, great child actors funny and heart warming, sad in places. Plus loved the ending credits.

Saw it on saturday. Loved it. Dev Patel is so sweet. Great soundtrack. Funny, poignant, gives you the vibe of Mumbai perfectly.

Best bit is the end credits on the station platform imo
Liked it because it was feelgood, but was unsure about some of the acting (lead actor and actress to be precise) and was more interested in development of som eof the characters (policeman and gameshow host)

I've read the book and loved it. Is the film true to the book? I don't want to be disappointed.

Just seen it - was blown away. SUCH a long time since I've seen anything so brilliant. That Danny Boyle really knows how to make a good movie.

And yes, the end credits were fab. People in the cinema started applauding! Always makes me smile as it's a bit pointless but it was so good I was quite tempted to join in.

A child eyes were gouged out by a spoon. The film was amazing.

tiggerlovestobounce · 23/01/2009 14:29

The eyes werent gouged out. The characters in the film referred to it that way, but later on the eyeballs were still there. If that makes anyone feel any better. Probably not much
I felt sick at that bit of the film, but all in all I thought it was great.

Loved it. Best film I'd seen in years. The end scenes were so unexpected and very HSM.

I saw it last night and loved it but I wasn't convinced by the relationship between the lead couple.
