Or just really scared you grin (sorry if its been done before).

The worst one for me was "IT", god that film gave me nightmares for years.

The Sixth Sense gets me when the ghosts come in.

The shinning (the twins scene)

The ring got to me a bit

House on Haunted Hill (again, the ghost scenes!)

It's a really silly film but the prince of darkness always scared the bejesus out of me. I don't know why.

The Birds (esp the bit with the guys who's had his eyes pecked out, ewww!)

And The Amytiville Horror. Again it's a really silly one but it must have struck a chord somewhere. Maybe its my Convent education .... while we're on the subject of convent education, surprisinly enough the Exorcist isn't that scary. The book's worse IMO

I never found the exorcist scarey either...more boring actually. I think the whole 'controversy' surrounding it came from the religious connections which at the time was a bit taboo!

Most recently, "Skeleton Key".

I watched Sunshine last night and that's pretty blooming scary! The weird bloke at the end trying to kill them all is freaky, but the way it's edited with all the jumpy cuts and weird effects make it extra creepy

Second vote for Prince of Darkness. I don't tend to get aftereffects from watching horror films, I just wuss out whilst I watch them, but that one <<shudder>> I was quite young when I saw it though.

mine are both from when i was in my early teens
freddie kruger used to scare me sensless though i only ever saw about 5 minutes of one and the other one was a film my dad let me watch when i was 14 called the people under the stairs. i think it was supposed to be a comedy horror and if id seen it now wouldnt have thought it was scary but the scene where the bloke has this burgler hung up (dead) and is eating bits of him has stayed with me and i reckon thats why anything that even mentions canabilism brings me out in a hot sweat. urgghh i had nightmares about that for years. Zombies set me off to and even the trailers give me nightmares grin i did watch shaun of the dead and that was fine apart from the bit where the bloke gets pulled open and eaten. feel sick now. yack yack yack!

I dont watch scary films as a rule..but my dad took my brother to see Jaws when it came out..he was 7!! And has been terrified of sharks ever since.

MatBackFack Mon 18-Aug-08 09:46:38

Event Horizon for me

HeadFairy Mon 18-Aug-08 10:03:51

oh yes, the people under the stairs. Is that the one with the freaky brother/sister incestuous couple who keep children hostage? Very creepy, but in a slightly funny way.

I hate zombie things too. 28 days later freaked me out, I had to sleep with the lights on for ages, kept "seeing" mad zombies dashing around just outside my eyeline for ages blush. There's another one, day of the dead, land of the dead, something like that, when a pregnant woman is bitten by a zombie and gives birth to a zombie baby. That's freaky!

forevercleaning Mon 18-Aug-08 10:05:48

you may laugh but for me 'carry on screaming' which was supposed to be a comedy scared the life out of me!!

That oddbod and junior when they sit up and pace around collecting the women - horrible!!

jenpet Mon 18-Aug-08 10:10:59

Mine is an ancient one too...that bit in "Salems Lot" when one twin gets made into a Vampire and comes scratching at the bedroom window of the other twin. Saw it when I was about 12 and it gave me heeby-jeebys every time I went to bed for weeks...

annaje Mon 18-Aug-08 10:11:34

Texas chainsaw massacre - the original, not the crappy remake. Hostel is grim too.........

I love the first Halloween film with Jamie Lee Curtis - proper good horror!

Flier Mon 18-Aug-08 10:11:53

Chitty Chitty bang bang - the scene with the child catcher.

Nappyzoneneedssleep Mon 18-Aug-08 10:15:12

Nightmare on elm street for me - i was only mid teens when i watched it and when i went to bed my big brother was hid in the underbed storage of my box bed and started banging - i thought it was freddie with his knives and nearly sh** my pants ! Amityville and poltergeist and final destination also made me pap myself and i have now resolved to never watch a horror ever again. I was also scared to lift the toilet lid after ET but i was about 8!

SlartyBartFast Mon 18-Aug-08 10:15:49

texas chainsaw massacre here - absolutely cannot watch it - when he was just about to lift person onto meathook when they were still alive shock!!!!omg

annaje Mon 18-Aug-08 10:21:30

I saw a film called "the Mist" recently - that was very scary - not for the monster content (although they were good), but it was more an observation on the breakdown of human relationships when they are put in an awful situation - how quickly they turn on each other. Anyone who has seen it will know what I mean.....! if not, rent it when it comes out - bloody great film.

madcol Mon 18-Aug-08 10:25:12

The Descent - nasty - Potholeing sounds and looks bad enough - claustrophobic ; no-way back; head stuck in a hole only a mouse could get down etc. Then throw in nasty people-eating vampire-human hybrids. Thoroughly horrible.

Omen 2 when the boy is drowning under the ice, I've never forgotten it.

Also in LOTR, can't remember which one, when Frodo nearly drowns and sees all these ethereal dead bodies under the water. (Bit of a theme going on I think).

Jazzicatz Mon 18-Aug-08 10:27:05

The Fog - for months!

Nappyzoneneedssleep Mon 18-Aug-08 10:28:09
