Spiderman, MCU and Sony **possible spoilers if you haven't seen Far From Home**

I've been a Spidey fan for a while, but have only got into the MCU fairly recently, when my DS wanted to see the films.

I absolutely love Tom Holland as Spidey, and really enjoyed the two films so far, but his story now seems so entwined with the MCU that I can't work out how they are going to make the rest of the Spiderman films without reference to the Avengers, especially his relationship with Iron Man, Happy (re Aunt May etc).

Are they just going to reboot it all? I really hope not, especially after the way Far From Home ended, as it was such a cliffhanger.

What do people think will happen?? I'm scared for Spidey!!

Really hoping Disney stop being prats and they join together again. Pay up, make the films, accept the profits you get. They will make a ton on the next films regardless based on where they are going with spiderman now. And Tom Holland is brilliant as spiderman. He was apparently Stan Lees favourite.

But no, Disney clearly just want to ruin everything. Gits

It will be fine.

Marvel went in with a ridiculous first request, Sony rejected it and threatened to flounce but they will negotiate and come to an agreement they are both semi happy with. I am sure of it.

Exactly blue - Disney is a huge corporation, as is Sony. For the sake of X amount of dollars which presumably isn't much more than a drop in the ocean to either of them, the fans are potentially going to miss out on what could be a brilliant story arc?? Hmm

I so hope you are right Jolly - it seems like the ultimate in cutting off your nose to spite your face otherwise. I've just been reading the John Favreau said he is still hopeful that they will reach a deal.

Btw blue didn't know that about Tom being Stan's favourite, but I can totally see why - he has just the right kind of slightly gawky/slightly innocent thing going on, he's perfect in the role.

I liked Tobey Maguire too, but he was older and a bit more knowing, which isn't really how I imagined Peter.

Yeah I blame Sony too, but blame Disney more. Getting sick of them, they are ruining the film industry single handedly.

Yes I know what you mean. The Spiderman films have been so successful so far, surely continuing to be involved in them and keep Spiderman part of the MCU is in their interests as well?? Or am I just being naive?!

Exactly. Apparently the original deal was that Sony got 90% of the film profits and Disney got all merchandising profits. That wasn't enough apparently and they wanted 50/50 on the film too. So they were taking the piss essentially. Assuming that's true of course but given what Disney is like it wouldn't surprise me.

I see Disney are launching a streaming service now as well!

It makes me sad, all these deals and disagreements etc. I know that's how things work, it's a business etc, but in the end, Spiderman (and Mickey mouse etc for that matter) was just made by people who wanted to create something people would love, that's what it should be about still, being able to do the best with that character. So I really hope Jolly is right!!
