I went to see this yesterday. I liked it very much, excellent acting all round, especially Ali and Mortensen. The social issues aside, I always love the historical setting and period details. And the fabulous US scenery. One thing I did notice was how too big, i.e. fleshy, not to mention fat so many of the extras were to be right for the time.

A lovely aspect of seeing this film in Australia, and something I've not witnessed for a few years was the spontaneous applause at the end by the audience. Smile

I've asked for the title to be edited. Too much yard work in the sun.😎

I saw this on an unlimited screening, first 20 minutes or so were not so promising, but it suddenly perked up and well worth seeing.

Yeah same. Not the film I'd usually see but really enjoyed it!
The ending was quite sweet as well!

I saw it a few months ago at the London Film Festival. Thought it was OK - a bit bland and cookie cutter. Not worth any awards.

Loved it!

It dealt with racism from so many different angles and the acting was superb.

This film was shown at our local independent cinema as their anniversary mystery film and I loved it ! I thought it was going to be a bit "worthy" but it was an excellent story told with humour and realism . It also got applause at the end.

I loved it! Have been recommending it to everyone as it was one of my favourite films last year. I thought it might either be too worthy, or just depressing as hell, but I think it managed to tell a rather depressing story with warmth and humour. I thought the ending was a bit Hollywood, but not going to lie, loved it. :-) (By the way, I don't think 2018 was great for films. Loved The Favourite and a few others, but don't think it was that amazing really.)

Wasn't sure if this film was for me but saw it yesterday and really enjoyed it. A tad predictable but I felt it gave a good insight into the USA at the time. Interesting, and good scenery.

It's a good film but very "by the Numbers" if you've seen the trailer you've seen the film

I saw this today and loved it. Bit slow to get going but enjoyed the storyline and thought the characters and acting were fantastic. Had lots of humour in to balance the tenser parts. Mind boggling that those attitudes and laws were prevalent so relatively little time ago. This will be a film I'll encourage my children to watch when they are mid teens.
