Buried ( Ryan reynaulds) the entire film is him buried in a coffin and that's it.

Into the woods

SinkGirl Sun 23-Sep-18 11:03:15

Come on now. The OP asked for the worst film you’ve ever seen, so I can only assume some people here have never seen truly terrible films,

Films like Moulin Rouge, Being John Malkovich, Fight Club etc are exceptional films. They might not be personally to your taste, but they are wonderfully made, acted and produced films that deserve their acclaim.

I can totally understand why some don’t like Dogville but I think it’s a brilliant film. I’m a fan of the whole Brechtian thing though.

Someone mentioned Soul Plane - now that is a truly terrible film. I used to write reviews for film magazines and that was one I was forced to watch. Also, White Chicks and the American remake of Taxi.

Also, The Love Guru and The Dictator. The only films I’ve been unable to finish.

SinkGirl Sun 23-Sep-18 11:03:32

And of course The Room

MrsDoylesTeaBags Sun 23-Sep-18 11:47:56

Red Sparrow - I like Jennifer Lawrence but that was just shocking, I don't know why she was involved in such gratuitous trash.
50 Shades of Grey - Crap acting, crap script and with some really disturbing sxual violence at the end for good measure. Grim
Braven - It's on Sky Movies at the moment, don't bother.

Paranormal activity

luckycat007 Sun 30-Sep-18 23:19:06

I was bored out of my brains

Marky1 Tue 02-Oct-18 08:45:28

Rancid Aluminium.
Actually paid for cinema tickets to watch that rubbish.

April2020mom Tue 02-Oct-18 10:52:48

Ghostbusters 3 was dreadful. What was I thinking?

darkriver198868 Tue 02-Oct-18 11:06:47

Just watched What if it works! I desperately wanted it to be good as it had a semi decent portrayal of people with DID. However, it's awful.

ginghamstarfish Tue 02-Oct-18 11:10:28

Pretty Woman.
The first of the 'new' Star Wars film, a few years back - what crap, fell asleep after 10 mins.
La La Land - and I love 'proper' musicals (well, old ones) and this was drivel, gave up after about half an hour.

AdamNichol Tue 09-Oct-18 12:45:50

Worst films:
Minority Report - a lot of set up for a rather mundane explanation
Lost in Translation
Frozen (the Disney one) - me and DH lasted 15 mins before turning it off
Jackie Brown - stopped caring who was fooling who
Any musical or rom com. I won't name them as they're just genres lost on me. I like Star Wars (yes, all of them) and LOTR, but I get why people don't.

Films I suddenly feel compelled to admitting to loving:
Gangs of New York - it's actually a mostly true story
Men who Stare at Goats - also mostly a true story
Fight Club - my angry bible
Royal Tenebaums - what Lost in Translation aspired to be; but I get why people hate it, I only like it because I used to teach film and it's very film-student-y (whereas Lost in .. is just pretentious shit)

Gth1234 Tue 11-Dec-18 18:03:27

rollerball, rermake. shocking.

Frannibananni Mon 17-Dec-18 04:31:18

Bad Boy Bubby.

It was 25 years ago and I still consider it the worst film I've seen.

splishsplosh35 Mon 17-Dec-18 04:43:17

Telephone - entire film was Whoopi Goldberg talking on the phone in her apartment. Last scene there's a knock at the door and it's the telephone repair man coming to fix her phone confused. There's almost 2 hours of my life I'll never get back!

kttl Mon 17-Dec-18 23:42:44

The Astronaut's Wife

Rafflesway Mon 24-Dec-18 13:02:44

Astounded no-one has mentioned that all time cringe fest - Grease!
Dire doesn't even touch the surface.😡

Also, more up to date, Get Out! Not scary, couldn't understand what the heck was happening, fell asleep half way through.

MrsChollySawcutt Mon 24-Dec-18 14:58:27

Grease is a classic!

Now if you mean Grease 2, I could be on board although that is in the 'so bad is actually really compelling and quite funny' category for me.

Ohyesiam Mon 24-Dec-18 15:15:34

Crassness award: pretty woman
Scmaltz cliche and 2d characters: love actually
Triggering and upsetting: blue velvet

Loved La la land though, witty and well observed.

Rafflesway Mon 24-Dec-18 15:43:25

See I hear that all the time about Grease, Cholly, but I just found it toe curling in the extreme.

Didn't even attempt the sequel! 😒

Only ever seen trailers of Mama Mia but that looks very similar.

goforkyourself Mon 24-Dec-18 20:33:20

I watched Hereditary yesterday despite warnings on here.

Oh dear God, it was awful! 😂

Grinchly Mon 24-Dec-18 22:06:04

Rarely watch popular films as the more accolades they get the worse they seem to be.
Made an uncharacteristic and terrible mistake with Black Swan. Ridiculous nonsense.

Crookedcolours Mon 24-Dec-18 22:22:23

I spit on your grave

Disgusting film should be banned
Only film I've ever made a formal complaint about

SaltPans Mon 24-Dec-18 22:26:29

The sequel to Blade Runner! Absolutely loved the original - an iconic film. I was so bored in the sequel, I nearly had to walk out after half an hour - so dreary, grey and seemed to be raining all the time!

Just about pips Dunkirk (latest film) to the post - a group of random soldiers keep getting on ships that get hit or sink somehow. Cue scenes of drowning soldiers again and again......

sushisuperstar Fri 04-Jan-19 07:16:39

The new Spider-Man film has been added to my shit list

SmilingButClueless Fri 04-Jan-19 07:44:43

The 1998 film of The Avengers.

The scene with Sean Connery in a teddy bear costume (yes, really) was a particular highlight.

Mousewithascarf Fri 04-Jan-19 13:38:52

Everything that George Clooney directs and/or stars in - all dull, badly written virtue signalling crap. If he is in them add woodenly acted crap.

IncaAztec Fri 04-Jan-19 13:41:18

Close run between:
The Preachers Wife

clpsmum Sun 06-Jan-19 21:23:27

ladymalfoy Sun 06-Jan-19 21:27:27

The one where the killer is posting stuff on Facebook. It starts with a cat being electrocuted during the opening credits. One of the victims is slowly dissolved in acid, he blinks morse code to the camera . The Web?

Valkyries Mon 07-Jan-19 08:49:51

just saw Holmes and Watson - I'm throwing that one into the pot

just awful!

IVFNewbie Mon 07-Jan-19 08:54:51

'Carol'. Nonsense.

ProfessionallyUnoffended Wed 09-Jan-19 23:02:22

I like Leo DiCaprio he's done some good stuff but I really disliked The Reverent, very tedious.

Opheliasgoldenwine Wed 09-Jan-19 23:12:47

Florence Foster Jenkins and Hologram For A King were both awful. First time I didn't like a Meryl Streep/Tom Hanks movie.

LLOE7 Wed 09-Jan-19 23:13:55

Attack of the adult babies. It was on the horror channel a couple of nights ago! 😂

bumblingbovine49 Wed 09-Jan-19 23:26:24

Noone has mentioned Battlefield Earth ( with John Travolta). Dire does not even begin to describe it.
Then again it was based on an even worse book

chloejessica16 Thu 10-Jan-19 10:28:04
Hi, I'm currently doing a debate on the representation of women in film. I would really appreciate it if you could do the survey, it won't take too long. Thank you, Chloe.

slug Thu 10-Jan-19 11:25:29

Eyes Wide Shut..... Or eyes fast asleep as DH and I renamed it

Toddlerteaplease Sat 12-Jan-19 10:15:46

Saw the favourite last night. It's awful!

user83921 Sun 13-Jan-19 23:59:24

Ghost rider. Only film I've actually walked out on in the cinema.

Strokethefurrywall Mon 14-Jan-19 00:29:31

La la land
Hotel Transylvania 3
Elliot The Littlest Reindeer

mrsmuddlepies Mon 14-Jan-19 23:05:38

In Bruges is genius. I had to visit the city after seeing the film.

howrudeforme Mon 14-Jan-19 23:10:27

Boxing Helena.

Billed as controversial. Surgeon obsessed with woman so to ensure she couldn’t leave him he started amputating limbs.

I laughed the entire way through. So awful.

My1stNameIsTaken Tue 15-Jan-19 07:11:53

Never ever watch The Last Heist

Kannet Tue 15-Jan-19 07:27:22

World war z. Should have just been called "generic brad Pitt fights zombies". The book is so good and it bears no resemblance

CharlyAngelic Tue 15-Jan-19 15:44:56

Trouble Every Day ( at cinema ) by director Claire DENIS
Gross! Watched the whole thing but some other people did walk out

Bad Lieutenant ( video )
Switched it off , dull , dull , dull.

amyk91 Thu 17-Jan-19 14:18:49

Kunf fu yoga. I absolutely love jackie chan bit sorry this film was ruined by some annoying cast members and crap story

Tinty Thu 17-Jan-19 14:22:39

The Lobster

There was a whole thread about it last week because the Director also Directed The Favourite, and people were wondering about seeing it, because The Lobser was so bad. It seemed to be 90% of posters hated The Lobster and a random 10% loved it.

uhtredsonofuhtred Thu 17-Jan-19 14:25:43

@Cookie4u I loved buried, I was in tears at the end.

Worst film for me was killer clowns from out of space 😳

oldmum22 Fri 01-Feb-19 21:44:09

Downsizing , a pile of shite . A friend has promised to buy me a ticket to see Dlownsizing2 should it ever get made , as a wooden spoon present

AdamNichol Tue 05-Feb-19 14:54:54

Fell down a youtube hole the other day, ended up watching a series of videos called '10 things you didn't know about [x]' [x] being a movie of (mostly) 80s or 90s vintage - From Dusk to Dawn, Weird Science, Lost Boys, Krull, etc, etc.
One of them was Road House. The video mentioned Road House II, which was (randomly) on sale in HMV as a double feature with the original. OMG, what a sack of shit....manages to:
a) have not one, but two entirely illogical premises - DEA agent takes over injured uncle's bar despite knowing nothing about running a bar and having a career elsewhere; and said bar being desired by local drug runner due to its location, coz you know they couldn't just set up a shell business 2 mins down the road.
b) cartoonish bad guy who assembles an army of support despite being an inept lunatic
c) said bad guy is gifted credit for killing the protagonist of the first film (off screen), the whole thing that made the first film a slight cut above the traditional action movie. I would say spoiler alert, but frankly, if you couldn't see that one coming.....

As a measure of how bad it is. I was watching it alone, and went to kitchen to get a coke without pausing it. Remembered it was still running 10 mins into doing the washing up.

longwayoff Wed 06-Feb-19 22:12:30

A British film so bad I can't remember its name or who was in it. All that is left of it in my memory bank is a scene with Kathy Burke and Robert Carlyle, brother and sister, she being furious with him and, I think, throwing him out.
Who knows what happened in the rest of it?

Whisky2014 Wed 06-Feb-19 22:13:18

Room. Fucking shit

Whisky2014 Wed 06-Feb-19 22:17:26

True lies?! It's a bloody classic!

Whisky2014 Wed 06-Feb-19 22:18:16

@oldmum22 downsizing was crap..I was really looking forward to it and it was such a let down.

LaBelleSauvage123 Wed 06-Feb-19 22:22:42

Thomas and the Magic Railroad. By a country mile.

Mycathatesme Wed 06-Feb-19 22:24:12

Yes, Downsizing, marketed as a light satirical comedy, was actually a dull as fuck sort of dystopian scifi 'thriller'.

And half the scenes in the trailer were not in the film.

Corneliawildthing Wed 06-Feb-19 22:29:41

I absolutely hated Mama Mia - thought it was the naffest pile of old tosh I'd ever seen despite workmates raving about it and going to see it several times........ and then they brought out Mama Mia 2 hmm

Any film described as "feelgood" isn't my cup of tea,

Redshoeblueshoe Wed 06-Feb-19 22:50:45

I saw a film about Nazis on the moon. It was shite

Cattenberg Wed 06-Feb-19 23:28:42

I hated Moulin Rouge! (not to be confused with Moulin Rouge, starring Jose Ferrar, which was OK). It looked great and had some big name actors, but I thought it was a cringeworthy, unconvincing, incoherent mess.

I have a friend who spends most of his free time watching films. Even on foreign holidays. I believe his least favourite film of all time is The Spice Girls Movie.

Moralitym1n1 Sun 24-Feb-19 23:58:56

The posts on this thread have been cracking me up

I'll add Alexander (the one with Colin Farrell).

sushisuperstar Mon 25-Feb-19 00:17:57

I'll add the latest Lego film to the list.

Itsnotme123 Fri 12-Apr-19 13:00:20

I took my kids to see Rocky and Bullwinkle. It’s DIRE. No story line, just noise all the way through. I don’t think the kids liked it much either.

Lozz22 Tue 16-Apr-19 18:15:52

The Grand Budapest hotel. Utter shite!! Spent pretty much the whole film asleep as apparently did half the cinema as well!!

SallyGreen Wed 24-Apr-19 12:24:26

I don't know why but the worst film for me was the Fantom Thread. It was just terrible!

Frannibananni Wed 08-May-19 19:57:33

Bad boy bubbly. Fucking awful.

Gth1234 Mon 27-May-19 17:08:29

(the appalling remake, not the wonderful Norman Jewison original)

bessieval Tue 28-May-19 21:36:36

Imagine Me and You (2005).

Terrible in every way.

The Neighbour watched it on Now TV recently literally NOTHING HAPPENED it was complete crap.

blowsit Fri 31-May-19 08:39:19

I second I spit on your grave. Absolutely vile and pointless

EnidButton Wed 12-Jun-19 01:37:03

I just watched it.

The Perfection, on Netflix. Disturbing awful themes, appalling writing, hammy writing, terrible videography, even the lighting is bad. It's a complete waste of time, tries too hard and achieves very little. You don't care about the characters at all but given the plot you really should. It's cliched, terrible rubbish. I've watched some shit in my time but this one took the entire biscuit barrel and ran away with it.

EnidButton Wed 12-Jun-19 01:37:55

Hammy writing = hammy acting.

Although if it's possibly to write hammy then it did that too.

EnidButton Wed 12-Jun-19 01:39:26

I also meant cinematography. Honestly it's so bad it's triggered my brain fog.

superoz Fri 14-Jun-19 01:12:31

Without a doubt it was Robert Altman’s film Prêt à Porter a few years ago. So pretentious, so boring, so pointless.
I didn’t walk out of the cinema but wish i had.

carmenbea Wed 03-Jul-19 19:43:03

Serenity with Anne Hathaway was pretty bad. Stupid twist.

I watched a film called most beautiful island ... honestly one of the worst films I have ever seen it was on sky movies.

Some horror films take it too far ... I spit on your grave is a prime example! Was just ridiculous

greatescapeme Wed 03-Jul-19 19:51:43

Red sparrow
Black swan

ruby2101 Wed 03-Jul-19 21:15:27

Jurassic World II or whatever it was called! A hilarious short film I've just seen is New Mama though which made me feel a lot better after wasting 2 hours on the above! smile

FreeFreesia Thu 04-Jul-19 19:32:29

Dick Tracy is the only time I've walked out a cinema.
Bad Santa 3 is a close runner up.

zukiecat Sun 14-Jul-19 10:16:38

My XH made me see Total Recall, utter tripe, I counted the button things on the cinema ceiling instead, more enjoyable than that rubbish.

Philadelphia, usually I love Tom Hanks but I hated this

Grease, just boring, awful, total trash

Bicentennial Man, probably the worst of the lot

zukiecat Sun 14-Jul-19 10:25:35

I hated Misery too

I grew so bored I was thinking, Just kill him and be done with it! Release me from the misery of Misery

bakedbeanzontoast Sun 28-Jul-19 13:55:49

I'll add yesterday to my bored shitless list.

I am currently watching "all i see is you" with Blake lively on Netflix. It's appalling

courtlee Sun 08-Sep-19 10:22:57

I have seen a number of crap movies on Netflix recently. "What doesn't kill you" was awful.

Bobismyfriend Sun 08-Sep-19 20:55:25

Polar Express. The Hobbit. Into the woods.
Walked out of the cinema for all of them. During the Hobbit the man sat next to me fell asleep.

Midsomer, that’s 3 hours of my life I’ll never get back.

HearMeSnore Sun 22-Sep-19 19:20:18

The Fountain.

I expected it to be deep, and was in the mood for something that takes a bit of unravelling but it was beyond incomprehensible.

That and anything by Wes Anderson. I just don't get him at all. There is clearly something I'm missing because people rave about his understated genius. As far as I'm concerned it's so understated it isn't there.

PennyNotSoWise Mon 23-Sep-19 20:06:38

I spit on your grave
Disgusting film should be banned

This! Absolutely fucking hate films that use rape, violence and humiliation of women as a plot device, especially for a film as shit as that was. Oh look, our heroine gets brutally gang raped, but it's all okay guys, because it's going to turn her in to a complete boss ass bitch hmm. Fucking loathe it, and the people who make them.

dancerdog Sun 29-Sep-19 20:09:53

LaBelleSauvage123 Oh in the name of all that is holy, yes! Thomas and the Magic Railroad blighted our lives when our boys were young. Truly terrible, and they had it on a loop almost. Husband and I still quote some of the deathless prose
