I saw it. It was ok, dark, funny.

LassWiTheDelicateAir Mon 23-Oct-17 23:27:33

I thought it was wonderful. Fantastic ensemble cast, very funny.

I really want to see it! Hope to catch it before it finishes at my local cinema.

BertrandRussell Tue 24-Oct-17 07:29:06

Me too, Lass. And the threads of comedy and horror were so brilliantly juxtaposed.

As a side point - have you ever seen anyone who so obviously loves his work as much as Jason Isaacs does?

EllaHen Tue 24-Oct-17 07:30:05

I really want to see it. Glad it's good.

SausageCream Tue 24-Oct-17 07:31:29

No.

Lottapianos Tue 24-Oct-17 07:31:43

I saw it on Sunday and loved it. Very funny and brilliantly performed. I thought they balanced the horror and the humour really well. Could have done with a lot more Jason Isaacs though!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans Tue 24-Oct-17 07:43:37

Loved Jason Isaacs!

Zhabr Tue 24-Oct-17 19:02:36

Me! loved it, one of the best films I have seen recently. And I am russian, so I know really well who is who.

Elend Tue 24-Oct-17 19:05:31

I'm absolutely dying to see it and it doesn't appear to be showing anywhere in northern ireland sad

Astella22 Tue 24-Oct-17 19:07:00

I saw it and thought it was great

DottyBlue2 Tue 24-Oct-17 19:13:36

I saw it and thought it was MEH!

LassWiTheDelicateAir Tue 24-Oct-17 21:53:57

Could have done with a lot more Jason Isaacs though!

Wasn't he wonderful? And pretty much what my mental picture of Marshall Zhukov was.

LassWiTheDelicateAir Tue 24-Oct-17 21:58:53

Well apart from being Yorkshire. I loved that they just let everyone use their own accents.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie Tue 24-Oct-17 22:00:35

I'm going to see it on Saturday. Really looking forward to it.

mommybunny Tue 24-Oct-17 22:03:53

Haven’t been to cinema in ages, but was thinking of going to this. Is it the kind of thing where “if you love Thick of It and Veep you’ll love this?

LassWiTheDelicateAir Tue 24-Oct-17 22:11:35

I haven't seen Veep but if you liked In The Thick of It or In the Loop you will like it.

NikiBabe Tue 24-Oct-17 23:18:20

Cool. Will see this one.

Moussemoose Tue 24-Oct-17 23:20:47

Saw it tonight. Brilliant!

Jason Isaacs is a GOD.

Go and see it.

mollymawk Wed 25-Oct-17 07:14:21

Really looking forward to seeing this. I know someone who’s in it so it’s very exciting! Apparently it will be on in more cinemas over the weekend. I heard that they deliberately got everyone to use their own accents because the actual protagonists were from all over the USSR and couldn’t always understand each other so it was to reflect that.

PolkaDottyRose Wed 25-Oct-17 19:25:51

Saw this today, loved it. Jason Isaacs is fantastic, as always.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny Thu 26-Oct-17 20:52:08

Really enjoyed this - highly recommended.

grendel Sat 28-Oct-17 15:25:53

Saw it last night, thought it was great. Very (blackly) funny. Jason isaacs excellent coming in and literally kicking everyone's asses, whilst everyone else is just scurrying around whispering in corners. So many good performances all round. Loved it!

grendel Sat 28-Oct-17 15:28:25

And what was the story with the truly terrible suits (except Beria)? Did having a good tailor mark you out as a lackey of the capitalists or something?
