I saw this today.

It had very good reviews. However, it is very moody atmospheric, slow paced and a very depressing subject matter.

I did like the end justice ultimately though.

"Grim" is unfair I think on both counts. It isn't a horror film. Brutal and cruel things happen to people who did not deserve them. There is depth , strength of character and grace in the characters who are affected by these events.

I just saw it. It's a good film, but a tough watch. Pretty depressing really. Amazing landscape, but brutal too.

I enjoyed it. I've never thought much of Jeremy Renner but found him believable in this. Cinematography was excellent. My only problem was the pacing. I felt that the climax came very quickly and little build up. I also had my usual problem of not understanding what they were saying for the first part of the film. But that happens all the time to me.

I thought this was an excellent film, although more brutal than I had expected. I enjoyed the fabulous cinematography and the depiction of life on a reservation. I also thought the acting performances were good, and was especially impressed by Jeremy Renner in this film.

I was shocked by the information that came up on screen at the end: that no records are kept of the number of native american women who go missing. If this is true it is terrible.

That is really appalling, Lass - thank you for the link to the article. Pleased to see this film highlighting this issue, but don't hold out much hope for an improvement in the US in the current climate. Interesting to see that Trudeau has ordered an investigation in Canada.

What a beautiful and accurate assessment. It was so dense. Nathalie's face as she left her Matt. His joy at seeing her when she turned up at his portacabin.
I've thought so much about it since I saw it.
