10 cloverfield - anyone want to talk about it?

I saw it yesterday with two of the dc, and was really surprised at how much we all enjoyed it and talked about it afterwards.

Anyone want to discuss - probably spoilers though.

I saw it yesterday too with my husband and two sons 17 and 20. Though I have to agree it was a very good film I am seriously concerned at the 12A rating which we all agreed was totally inappropriate for a film that showed such horrendous images such as the man with half his face melted away by acid which is not a nice image for anyone of any age let alone a 12 year old. What is even more concerning is that this will go to DVD in a couple of months and be accessed by children far younger than 12 because we already know that many parents do not particularly care what their children watch and will just say go ahead it is only 12A how bad can it be. I have contacted the BBFC because I feel so strongly about this issue but would welcome the views of other parents who have seen the film recently.

I totally agree re the rating - psychologically my 10 and 8 year old wouldn't cope at all.

Just saw it and loved it. In my opinion it should have been rated 15. John Goodman gave a brilliant performance.

Surprised at the rating, tbh I had not clocked that.

John Goodman was superb, it was great to see a strong, intelligent female for once and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Saw it today.did enjoy it.Thouhh having seen Cloverfield did feel it lost a bit of mystery with the whole is he lying or not lying about the outside world.
Great performances though

That's true. It would have been great as a stand alone film.

I think he has done the same thing before, only without the external factors that were there this time (what we saw in the last scenes of the film).

I couldn't work out how H managed to padlock the skylight in the air filtration room from the inside. Was there another way in to that room apart from going through the vent? If so, why would he get M to fix it when it broke, rather than doing it himself?

I think that was done when he was building it for the first girl because we couldn't work out why he didn't go there

I liked the fact that the jigsaw puzzle was titled 'catfish', as a reference to people who aren't quite what they seem.

Saw it last night and really enjoyed it. I found it very tense and jumped, A LOT. Not so much at all the (SPOILER ALERT) alien stuff at the end, but more with John Goodman being all unpredictable and weird.

Thought everyone did a really good job, especially Goodman. He plays sinister, bunker building weirdo brilliantly!

It's nice to go to the cinema and not come out disappointed for a change. Not sure it's one I'd want to watch again and again though. Once you know the truth, it wouldn't be anywhere near as exciting.

Oh and definitely agree it's NOT a 12a. Definitely more a 15.

12A No way! The acid melted face man made my 14year old DD stay up all night with the light on. Not cool! I however quite enjoyed it. The pleasure was however spoiled by the worry that my daughter was experiencing phycological trauma. We are off to see the Jungle Book this weekend so hopefully that will mend any scarring.

Has anyone seen Midnight Special?? Is it any good? Looks intriguing

12A NOOOOO WAAAAY! Melted face man kept my DD awake all night with the light on. Not cool at all. Worrying about emotional scarring of my children also took from my enjoyment of the film. From now on we are not taking any chances. Its The Jungle Book this weekend.

I fancy Midnight Special. Has anyone seen it? I think it looks interesting
