Does this film actually exist?

It's a romcom. 90s/00s. About a couple who meet and have sex and then bump into each other every couple of years and end up having sex, despite having other relationships. Then they end up getting together. That's about it. It's not One Day. It's not When Harry Met Sally. It's American. At the end they're in a little walled courtyard with a wrought iron gate. I think. She might be an artist. There's a good chance it's just a mashup of about 30 other films I've seen. Help?

There'a book a bit like that.

Vince & Joy by Lisa Jewell. You might enjoy that if you can't find the film.

It does sound very one day.

No idea though!

Serendipity with John Cusack?

Report
ButterMelonCauliflower · 06/03/2016 20:04

Serendipity was what DH said but I like john Cusack and I'm not sure I like this other film. It's pretty dumb and forgettable, whatever it is. Something like 40 Days and Nights, but not that. I think I must have dreamt it...

Do you film-guessing people want to help me with one too?

It's in a motel, and it's dark and people are getting murdered one by one.

The story is told by someone being interviewed.

I think at first we think he's being interviewed by the police, because he's the only survivor.

At the end (possibly) it turns out to have all been in his head and he's being interviewed by a psychiatrist.

I know what film you mean. I know because a seedy ex suggested that could be a route we'd like to take - a shag every few years and never mind the spouses. I declined his kind offer. But I can't remember the bloody name - sorry.

Trills that sounds like Identity - the only film I have ever walked out of. Big John Cusack connection here tonight.

Trills Is the film you're talking about called Identity? With John Cusack?

Thank you!

You are brilliant!

:o

annandale Can I ask why you walked out? Very impressed with your decision by the way - if you are not enjoying something then just leaving is a better use of your time.

Oh I'm a wuss. I like John Cusack films and I like thrillers, but I don't like slasher/horror type stuff. I was with DH who only really likes French romances and political talky films with a dash of Bourne (I like those too). A scene started with a corpse on a chair impaled with a fencepost or something down its throat. We looked at each other and decided we would rather be elsewhere.

Oh I loved Identity! A bit cheesy American, but I didn't figure out the ending either.
