BAFTA -Just fantastic events for kids & teens coming up but think most people tend to think BAFTA is some impenetrable other world! So here you go:)

BAFTA is based in Picccadilly and whilst some events are for members/members guetss only, there are many that aren't limited and they can be great fun depending on your (or your DC's) ages and interests.

For example, on Sat 5th March there is a preview of Eps. 1& 3 of season 4 of the childrens drama Wolfblood And on the 12th (I think its the 12th but do check first!) there is a Virtual Reality session with the developers of the game The Assemblywhere you get to play first and then have a Q&A with the tech geeks guys behind it.

Posting this as these really are great events and a whole bunch of them with a really wide variety are across the year are on, complete with access to expertise if it's an industry you want to get into, but it's suddenly dawned on me over the past few days that people really do seem to see BAFTA as a bit 'other-worldy', and not something 'accessible' to them IYKWIM?

Well, it is! And 'accessible' aside, it's always and incredible value too - IE for Wolfblood, (which is the first screening of first 2 ep's,from new season) the screening will THEN be followed by a Q&A with the series creator/the Director/one or poss more of the actors, for the grand total of a fiver for adult ticket & 3 quid for a children's one Wink Be especially great if you have younger ones that love the series already, or older ones who might have an interest in career in the telly/film industry.

The only thing I will flag is that the theatre inside is pretty small, so if lots of people suddenly get interested in one specific event then it will sell out v v quickly (esp. given that the prices are - in the context of prices for all else - very very cheap).

HTH someone :)

*If you would like to go to the Wolfblood but genuinely cannot afford it and you really believe that your child will get something out of it, then please PM me as I may have some spare tickets nearer the time (that one is on the 5th, so 2 weeks this Saturday is the date it's on & at the time of 11am)

Sorry post a bit waffley but I'm dreadfully tired but did tho want to get this post up whilst it was still front of mind Grin

Agree with bolleaux although it does sound like an amazing experience, especially for a teen interested in the industry!!

Bloody hell that is AWESOME. Thank you Lady Stoic. My DC will be blown away.

Now then. Please help - my usual Saturday morning is either homework, housework, sports or possibly the local kids £1.50 disney film with smuggled in sweets.

Bafta is going to be a bit different..What do I need to know? Is there a dress code? Are there things one does not do when one is at Bafta? Does it matter if I have no idea who the feck anyone is? Is there an age restriction? Have I got to think of a clever question for the Q&A? Do you buy refreshments like a normal cinema or is it more like a theatre in atmosphere/etiquette? Does Stephen Fry live there?

TomMuch To be fair, I am usually the recipient of this piece of advice after I have posted (usually due to the fact that 'succinct' eludes me and thus my posts are always very long; suspect that then leads to the posters of the gem I am about to pass your way not kwinging that I can type at 130pm Grin So here you go TooMuch,

And breathe... - and tell me, do you find it as patronising and fucking offensive as I do when some feels fit to tell me it??! Grin

I can (I think!) answer most of your questions but THE most critical question right NOW is HAVE YOU GOT TICKETS???!!

As without that, the Q's are not worth asking! The Princess Anne Theatre, whilst really IS just a frickin LOVELY plush venue really IS also on the small side, so iirc, it's got 227 (will go dbl check this number!) seats. Which, if people are going in parties of 3/4/5 - lets take 4 as the average which seems about right if I recall my now past days of taking DCs to early morning Movies - with 4 people per booking, then it only takes 56 bookings to be sold out Shock

So yes, I will HAPPILY answer your Q's but first of all run and book tickets toute bloody suite, & then run back and let us know if you've actually secured tickets (as I suspect Boleaux may be correct in her - apposite vis time now - observation! And i'm also wondering how many people may have just skipped off to buy tickets instead of posting here...

Oh, and if that WAS you - IE skipping off straight away to buy ticketsStar - then do please come back and advise if you have or have NOT been able to secure tickets???

ladystoic, we attended this today, just back, and I wanted to say thank you for letting us know about it - a totally fab event.

BUT! All the tickets were sold out and yet half the cinema was empty. what a terrible waste of spaces! Sad
