Last night I went to the midnight showing with my teen DD. Yes I was the oldest there Grin.

The film is well worth seeing. Full of action and true to the book.

There is a huge jump scare and even though I know it was coming and read the book; I still nearly jumped onto my DD and scared her more than the film.

Got home gone 3.00am, not feeing too youthful now.

I'm going to the 10.15 showing tonight with dh and ds, and I'm the only one who's read the books...

Can't wait!

I saw this last night!

I thought it was great and very true to the books, even the sad bits :(

Only two things bothered me:

(At the risk of not posting spoilers I'll be vague)

There was a baby that seemed..out of place. Minor detail but it was a little distracting.

Katniss kept holding her bowstring right by her nose? I kept thinking she was going to *twang herself in the snozz everytime she took a shot!

Other than that it was brilliant.

The scene in the Capitol by the gates really shocked me though I've read the book and knew it was coming. Some of it felt far too similar to scenes I've seen on the news recently.

Very hard to say exactly what without giving out spoilers.

I wished there had been more about how the other characters were at the end, what happened to them.

I watched it today and was really disappointed and slightly confused about what was going on. Maybe I need to read the books. I loved the other 3 but this was a bit boring and dark to be honest

The final book is very angsty!

Grin We weren't the only ones who noticed then and had a bloody good laugh

Who put the trailer in my OP? Confused Wasn't me I'm not clever enough to know how to do it.

Phew, glad I'm not the only one either fortified! I found it difficult to concentrate on what was actually happening in the scene because I was a bit baffled by that particlar casting choice!

The trailer above is actually a good example of the bowstring thing - the string is resting on her cheek, right by her nose! I'm no archery expert but I'm pretty sure if she let go of that string she would hit herself in the face and throw her shot right off course pendantic

Agree that the last book felt very angsty, it felt less like teenage fiction but that point but given the subject matter I couldn't really see it being anything else. I mean, the whole series starts with a game that involves children killing each other!

It was a great movie though :)

I saw it and enjoyed it, and yes and one point I leapt up and shrieked (much to the amusement of DH).

I'm to sure what people are referring to about the "baby" though? What problem?

I thought the baby looked as if it had Chinese parentage - which is odd and seems to add an unintended plot twist. Having read the book I don't think that was intended.

I presume it was the only baby they had available, and thought it looked kind of white-enough!

Enjoyed the film overall - thought it worked better than Mockingjay part 1 which ended where you didn't want it to.

The children are Jennifer Lawrence's nephews. I thought the baby looked like Jennifer.
