The Da Vinci code.
Melancholia.
Jar head.
Spirited away (I don't know why it's rare I don't really enjoy studio ghibli films but that one just didn't really do it for me though I have seen all of it I really didn't get the hype at all)
The others.

All of which were sorts of films I'd expected to enjoy (except da Vinci code - I saw that whilst staying at a friends who had hated reading but had said there was this brilliant film that got her to read again and everyone must see it so we had a film night. Big mistake!)

The others I had the misfortune of going to the cinema to watch. Stuck in the middle of the row. Every minute, having guessed The Twist and the misfortune to sit next to a group off teenagers who would not move to let me out was hell.

LOTR. Ghastly bore with so may lingering looks for no reason at all - I reckon if you cut them all you'd only have two films.

I see the Hobbit has recieved much the same treatment.

OP, totally with you on Dirty Dancing and unfortunately I have seen it to the end and no, it doesn't get better. Horsefaced guy, at least 40, leching on a vapid teenager who has nothing to say with dance moves choreographed by Pete Waterman trying to do 'sexeh'.

Also, Grease. Again, they are both clearly around 40 years old, and the main message seems to be that the only way to secure your heart's desire (ie a shag with a fucking loser who can barely fucking talk and whose one ambition in life is to 'get lots of tit' in a car - aim high, girl) is to frizz your hair up, smoke and wear fake leather trousers. Stockard Channing is the only saving grace, and she is far, far too good for this pile of unadulterated toxic spew. I know mothers who let their six year-olds watch it, when really it should carry a health warning.

Totally agree "Forest Gump". It's his accent that drives me mad! !

Ghost, titanic, beaches, dirty dancing, and ET.

Can also add sex and the city chick flick type movies, as I'd probably hate them if I watched them.

Lord of the Rings
(I had read and loved the books, dh had never even heard of them - both of us thought it was utterly dire)

The Lion King
No. Just no.

The Godfather. And the sequels. It's just beautifully-shot guys killing one another, endlessly, with an occasional woman being blown up or a misplaced horse body part.

Most 80s blockbusters. Top Gun and Dirty Dancing in particular.

Pulp Fiction. Am told it's iconic, a classic, groundbreaking.... Well be that as it may but I thought it was boring!

Ghost for me too. I can cope with LOTR but they fucked up the books mainly for me, which is why I didn't like them much. Gollum and Denethor I liked.

Spirited Away is a bit weird; I like it but like Totoro more and I can see why it wouldn't appeal to everyone.

A film that had good critical reviews that didn't grab me at all was Belleville Rendezvous.

And Brick. Empire gave it four or maybe even five stars I think but I just couldn't understand what the fuck anyone was saying.
